WHOM YOU SHOULD FOLLOW
Romans 11:29 (AMPC)
“For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them
when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom
He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]”
Dear people
of God, I wish you the Happiest of New Years in 2020 in Jesus’ Mighty Name,
Amen.
As is usual
with most of us, we would have reflected over 2019 and made some resolutions,
goals and commitments for 2020.
My simple
advice to everyone reading this message today is that you include the Lord
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah and Master of the Universe in
whatever plans you have for 2020.
You must
include Jesus Christ because He is the ONLY person Who would never mislead you
because of His unfailing love for you as your Creator and God.
You must
therefore follow Him wholeheartedly by diligent study, meditation, obedience
and action on His Word in the Holy Bible. When you do this, you can be sure
that your every prayer would be answered because He has said for you to ask God
the Father anything in His (Jesus’) Name, you MUST abide in Him and His Words
MUST abide in you – John 15:7.
Secondly,
as you can see from today’s lead Holy Bible text, God does not reverse His
gifts and calling on anyone once He has given it.
The
implication here is that God would never change His mind when He has called you
to serve Him in a particular capacity. The example of Jonah in the Holy Bible
is clear even when Jonah initially disobeyed God’s instruction to go preach to
the people of Nineveh but Jonah learned the hard way and later obeyed God –
Jonah 1-3.
Fortunately
for Jonah and unfortunately for some Gospel ministers, theirs may not be the
same ending just as we see with Eli the high priest whose recalcitrant sons got
him into deep trouble with God – 1 Samuel 3:11-14.
So what is
the implication for the congregation of today’s Gospel ministers? First, let us
remember that God has warned us in His Word that there would be false prophets
in the last days in which we presently live – Matthew 7:15; 1 John 4:1-6; 2
Corinthians 11:13-15; 2 Peter 2:1.
These false
prophets were ordained by the devil as his ministers as seen in 2 Corinthians
11:13-15.
What is
common to all these false prophets is that their teachings and actions deviate
from what is clearly written as Truth in God’s Word.
Furthermore,
there are Gospel ministers today who were called by God and have gifts from God
and they fall into one of these categories – Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists,
Pastors and Teachers to serve God and minister to the Church, the Body of
Christ.
However,
along the line, a number of them have deviated from God’s call particular
because of their ungodly love for money and so are now serving the devil’s
interests without even realising it.
Now,
because God does not withdraw His gifts and calling on anyone, some of these
ministers are still able to manifest the gifts of the Holy Spirit – speaking in
tongues, interpreting tongues, prophesying with accuracy, healing, etc and so
they believe they are still in right standing with God and continue to live in
sin whilst manifesting the gifts of their office.
Majority of
their congregation also believe because they are able to prophecy and manifest
gifts of their office, God is still in support of their activities.
These
congregants who have this belief are not aware that God does not change His
mind once He has given a call or gifts to a minister and so they remain blind
to the ministers’ sins even when they are obvious.
Now, do
these congregants have a genuine excuse to give God for their ignorance and
tolerance of the sin of their minister? The answer is NO because as they eat
physical food daily to nourish their bodies, so are they to eat spiritual food,
the infallible Word of God, daily to nurture and nourish their souls and human
spirits to know the Truth that God has set forth therein.
Recall God
has stated that all humans shall NOT live by bread ALONE but by every Word God
has spoken – Matthew 4:4.
However, some
members of this congregation of deviated ministers become enlightened and leave
the congregation for good when they observe from a careful study of God’s Word
that their ministers are living a double life of sin even when they manifest
God’s gifts on their office.
These
ministers tell lies, cheat people, sleep with their congregants whether single
or married, quarrel, keep malice, harbour resentment and unforgiveness, show
intolerance and deep hatred to anyone that quietly opposes their teaching and
behaviour, give immoral advice to break people’s homes and family, etc.
Dear
friend, having read thus far, I want to congratulate you because it shows you
are interested in the things of God and you desire to live right before God.
You can see
from today’s message the kind of dangerous world in which we live today filled
with a lot of deceit from the devil and his agents using false prophets and
backslidden gospel ministers to deceive their congregation.
Can we hold
God responsible for this?
Of course
NOT because God has given us a manual to follow but as a result of sheer
insensitivity to the things of God, even church members, Christians, have failed
to compare what they hear from the altar with what is written in God’s Perfect
Law of Liberty that is the Holy Bible.
It is most
dangerous to take everything you hear from the altar hook, line and sinker
without verifying it from God’s Word.
So whom
should you follow in 2020 and beyond?
Follow
Jesus Christ, make Him Saviour and Lord of your life by simple and
uncompromising obedience to His commands in the Holy Bible.
Follow
genuine ministers of the Gospel who over the years have preached God’s Word and
further demonstrated from their lives that they are obedient children of God.
Finally,
please note that it is not God’s responsibility to get you into heaven. He has
already done His part by re-opening the door to heaven with the sacrificial
death and resurrection of His Son, our Lord and Messiah Jesus Christ.
This door
to heaven was first closed when the devil successfully deceived our first
parents Adam and Eve to make them disobey God’s commands in the Garden of Eden
– Genesis 3.
God has
also done His part by calling and gifting ministers of the Gospel who are to
use these gifts of their office for the perfecting of the saints – you and me
-, for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the Body of Christ, the
Church of God – Ephesians 4:11-12.
God has
done His part by warning us in His Word about false prophets and also
backslidden gospel ministers who call him Lord but fail to enter heaven even
after manifesting their gifts of office because of their double life of sin –
Matthew 7:21-23.
God has
done His part by giving ALL Christians, whether new converts or mature
believers, full authority over ALL POWERS AND SCHEMES of the devil, demons and
their human agents, when you command them out of your life and circumstances in
the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God has
done His part by giving you prayer with which to sincerely communicate with Him
for clarification on any issue you are not sure about and He would SURELY
revert to you with an answer.
It is therefore
your personal responsibility to take these FREE gifts of God and use it to get
yourself out of the devil’s distractions in this world and then into heaven
through simple trust, faith, hope, and obedience to God’s commandments.
A Word is
enough for the wise.

it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.
