SEEK TO KNOW WHO A CHRISTIAN IS

Hebrews 8:6-7
“But as it now is, He [Christ] has acquired a [priestly] ministry which is as much superior and more excellent [than the old] as the covenant (the agreement) of which He is the Mediator (the Arbiter, Agent) is superior and more excellent, [because] it is enacted and rests upon more important (sublimer, higher, and nobler) promises.

7 For if that first covenant had been without defect, there would have been no room for another one or an attempt to institute another one.”


Dear people of God, from a number of conversations I have had with Christians on some issues bothering on the rights of a Christian in Christ, I have discovered, though sadly, that many are just not aware of these rights.

As a result, many go through life experiencing a lot of difficulties at the hands of the devil and his agents, both demons and human.

As a result, many Christians are afraid of things that ordinarily they should give a command in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and it would fizzle out just like that!

In today’s world, Christians make a lot of effort to acquire a formal education and receive certificates for it.

With these certificates come the wrong notion that they can understand and interpret the Word of God because they were able to pass exams in formal school.

See what God’s Word says about those who try to use sense or human knowledge to discern the things of God in 1 Corinthians 2:14, “ But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated.

You can see for yourself that the natural mind cannot understand spiritual matters that are of more value as far as this life is concerned.

Why waste your own time try to rationalize the things that can only be discerned by God’s Spirit living within you as His child?

One major lesson we can draw from today’s lead Holy Bible text in Hebrews 8:6 is that the new Testament on which Christianity is founded rests on more important promises.

One may ask, what are these more important promises?

Good question.

You must deliberately seek to know these more important promises because it would make a significant difference between you and the non-Christian and even the Christians who do not have a knowledge and understanding of this information.

These more important promises are found in full, documented in the Holy Bible, the infallible Word of God.

Dear friend, the more I study God’s Word, the more I am thankful to God and greatly amazed at how many years of my life I wasted in ignorance because I failed to study this incomparable Resource to know what is most important to all mankind.

No wonder God says we should seek FIRST His Kingdom and His righteousness and everything else we seek in life would be added to us – Matthew 6:33.

The Christian with knowledge of God’s Word would understand why Evangelism is important to God. He would be able to interview and counsel fellow Christians who are struggling in any area of their lives.

The Christian with understanding of God’s Word would successfully withstand every spiritual arrow fired by the devil and his agents.

Eventually, this Christian would understand why following, trusting and obeying God is the noblest ambition any human should pursue, for it is only then one would attain what is most important, which is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.


May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.
