A MESSAGE TO CHRISTIANS WHO REFUSE TO PAY TITHES

Malachi 3:8-9

“Will a man rob or defraud God? Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, In what way do we rob or defraud You? [You have withheld your] tithes and offerings.



9 You are cursed with the curse, for you are robbing Me, even this whole nation. [Lev. 26:14-17.]”



Dear people of God, before the current coronavirus or covid-19 pandemic, there were those Christians who had all manner of excuses not to pay their tithes even when they earned a genuine living.



Some said they would rather give the 10% of their LEGITIMATE income that belongs to God to the poor because the Church and Pastor do not need it.



When you ask them what they would do with the remaining 90% of their income, they have absolutely nothing meaningful to say but continue to justify why they should disobey God on the 10% of their income from salary and business profit and financial gifts God has said should be given to the Church for the work of the Gospel.



Now that there is an economic shut down globally as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, these group of Christians have a much better excuse not to pay tithes.



Some would claim not to have enough to feed themselves and their families so let them manage the little entering into their coffers for now.



Some have lost their job and for others, business has almost collapsed and all is not well.



Even though all these excuses at these trying times appear legitimate, however, I cannot find any Holy Bible verse where God provides a reason for someone not to pay tithes.



The reason God did not give a condition for someone not to pay tithes is because He, God, is the Provider for His children who put all their faith and trust in him.



Now that majority of the churches are not gathering physically to worship God and hear His Word, God still expects the Gospel to be preached especially at this time when many are idle at home and there are so many lost souls out there who are yet to hear, believe, repent of sin and accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.



God once told the late Pastor Kenneth E. Hagin that He, God, does not have money in heaven to send down to earth because money is not required in heaven so all the money is down here on earth where it is spent.



Since the Gospel still has to be preached even during this lockdown and churches are not gathering physically, money is required to pay for television and radio station airtimes, procure data to run and manage Church websites and these monies for television and radio stations run into tens of millions every month.



I want to ask those who say paying tithes as a Christian is not required, where will the money come from to offset the bills required to preach the Gospel through technology?



Is it not from the same tithes that you claim is not required to be paid today for Christians?



How else can you prove to love and obey God when you fail to obey His commandments? – John 14:15.



I can tell you, dear friend, that because I have paid and continue to pay my tithes even during this period, God has never failed to provide my needs even now.



 I can also tell you that majority who gave silly excuses and failed to pay tithes and offerings are now suffering untold hardship as a result of their disobedience to God and are still lamenting and expecting God to come to their aid.



God is not wicked. He is a Righteous Judge and He cannot violate His Word.



Look at today’s lead Holy Bible text above and see where God says there is a curse on anyone who fails to pay tithes.



If God were to bless those who fail to pay tithes along with those who pay, then that would make God an unrighteous Judge and a violator of His Word.



Fortunately, we know that God is a Righteous Judge and cannot violate His Word for any reason or for anyone.



My simple advice to those Christians who have failed to pay their tithes and are now experiencing difficulties at this time is for you to repent sincerely, ask God for forgiveness, promise Him never to disobey His command and begin to pay tithes now.



I know even in your disobedience during this period there are people who are still showing you mercy and helping you financially.



Ensure to take out 10% of ALL such monies and remit immediately to your local Church’s bank account for tithes so that God can remove the curse YOU have placed upon yourself as a result of your disobedience of His simple command to pay tithes of ALL your income – whether salary, business from legitimate sources or financial gifts from others.



Stop defrauding God.



Stop defrauding yourself of God’s blessings and placing yourself in danger of going to an eternal damnation in HELL because of disobedience.



Yes, read Malachi 3:9 again and again and note that it is God Who placed the curse on those Christians who are disobedient in paying tithes and all such people can NEVER enter heaven when they leave this world at death even if they are obeying God in all other areas of His commandments.



Now, you may want to argue and say but the message in Malachi 3:9 is addressed to Israelites, who are seed of Abraham.



Let us see what the Bible says concerning Christians in Galatians 3:29 (AMPC), “And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham's Seed], then you are Abraham's offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.”



So, you can see for yourself that Malachi 3:9 also applies to Christians who are seed of Abraham by virtue of their belonging to Christ Jesus.



If you ask me whether a non-Christian who does not pay tithes is also affected, I will respond and tell you that the Bible says a non-Christian is condemned already for not believing Jesus Christ is the Messiah, Saviour and Lord of the Universe – John 3:18.



Dear friend, there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever not to pay tithes. It is for your own good both for this life and the life hereafter.



Do yourself good by obeying what God has commanded without any question or doubt.



A Word is enough for the wise.



May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.
