WOULD JESUS CHRIST APPROVE OF YOUR ACTION?
Acts 26:17-18 (AMPC)
“17 Choosing you out [selecting you for Myself] and delivering you from among this
[Jewish] people and the Gentiles to whom I am sending you – [Ezek. 2:1, 3.]
18 To open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of satan to God, so that they may thus receive forgiveness and release from their sins and a place and portion among those who are consecrated and purified by faith in Me. [Isa. 42:7, 16.]
Dear people of God, the above Holy Bible text is the mandate the Lord Jesus Christ gave to Paul the Apostle.
This mandate remains the same even today from Jesus Christ to all Christians, His followers, who are genuine and sincere in their pledge of loyalty with unfeigned obedience to His commands in the Holy Bible.
The mandate is the same because God can never change His standard or reduce it for any reason or anyone – Malachi 3:6a; Hebrews 13:8.
It is therefore expected that a committed follower of Jesus Christ must be conscious of what constitutes acceptable behaviour as far as Jesus is concerned.
As Christians, we are the light of Christ Jesus to a darkened world filled with sin, immorality and unrighteousness. We must always shine the light of Christ in our words and conduct wherever we are.
Other must always see Jesus Christ in your conduct and words otherwise you are simply walking on your own and not with God.
Consequently, we must always ask ourselves whether a particular course of action or word from our mouth is acceptable to Jesus Christ.
The first question must always be, would Jesus approve of my conduct?
Whether in:
ü
the
choice of friends – do they have the love and fear of God visible in their
character?
ü
the music we listen to – does it glorify God?
ü
the clothes we wear- is it sexually
provocative?
ü
the literature we read – does it edify us or
arouses us into immoral thoughts?
ü
the websites we visit online – does it edify
or damage our spirits?
ü
the drinks we take – God does not allow
alcohol for a Christian or anyone else for that matter,
ü
the places we visit – does it help us
spiritually?
ü
the conversations we engage in – edifying or
scandalizing?
ü
the
way we treat friends – all humans are equal before God
ü
the
way we treat strangers – do we treat them the way we want others to treat us?
Do we discriminate based on ethnic nationality, social, political, economic or
religious status?
ü
the
choice of business – is it righteous or unrighteous labour? Not all businesses
are acceptable to God.
ü
our
handling of business – do we cheat employees and customers?
ü
the
choice of paid employment – not all jobs qualify as righteous labour before
God, e.g. working in a bar, nightclub, casino, etc.
ü
the
movies we watch – does it edify us or scandalize us?
ü
taking
other people’s things without authorization – this is stealing and unacceptable
to God
ü
taking
your spouse, relatives or friends’ things without authorization – God does not
accept stealing
ü
your
reaction to offences – do you keep malice, harbour resentment, refuse to
forgive offences?
this question must always pop up on our minds – does Jesus approve of my behaviour?
In fact, for a genuine Christian, the Holy Spirit would remind you once you have deviated from God’s acceptable standard.
If the Holy Spirit does not ask you any question, it must mean you have stopped obeying Him in times past and you have decided to follow your own path.
This is one reason we are warned in Ephesians 4:30 (AMPC), “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God's own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).”
The worst thing that can happen to any Believer is to be spiritually severed from God’s Divine Providence because of persistent engagement in unacceptable behaviour.
It usually starts with a little misdeed, remorse, repeat misdeed, remorse again, misdeed again, little or no remorse and then falling headlong into sinful conduct.
This is why you must never joke with your daily study of God’s Word and meditation therein on a regular schedule. This is one way God speaks to you and guides you as long as you are willing and obedient.
Dear friend, not every behaviour is acceptable to God no matter how you try to justify it. The only way you can know for sure is by going into God’s Word in the Holy Bible and doing exactly what it says regardless of how you feel about it.
This is why we are told in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (AMPC), “Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action),
17 So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Always ask yourself this one question, when others see me, do they see Jesus Christ or do they see an unrighteous person pretending to be a follower of Jesus Christ?
Dear friend, Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
