THERE IS NO PEACE FOR THE WICKED

 Isaiah 57:20-21 (AMPC)

But the wicked are like the troubled sea, for it cannot rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt.

21 There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.”

Dear people of God, recent events in the Nation of Nigeria in West Africa have been both pathetic and unfortunate.

For the first time in this nation’s history, a group of young men and women took to the streets to protest against years of police brutality at the hands of a now defunct unit called the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Even though this police unit was created in 1992 to deal with crimes associated with robbery, motor vehicle theft, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and firearms, over the years, it became a law unto itself molesting, arresting, framing up, extorting and killing innocent victims, mostly the youth in the prime of their lives.

This ungodly act continued until the recent protests in which the government of the day took a swift decision to scrap the inglorious police unit.

The young protesters then continued to protest against other ills of the society including a need for total reform and improved welfare of the entire police force and these protests were happening simultaneously in different states of Nigeria.

They were also protesting lack of paid employment, nepotism, highhandedness by government agencies, poor road infrastructure and poor governance amongst other issues.

The protests continued until criminal elements or thugs armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons started to attack the protesters in Lagos State and the nation’s Capital Territory in Abuja.

What was disturbing to people was the fact that the government did absolutely nothing to protect the protesters who were injured by the armed thugs but quickly regrouped as part of their determined resolve.

As a result of this inaction from the government to protect the peaceful protesters from the criminal elements, rumours began to fly about that the thugs were government sponsored agents, which some provided evidence on social media even when the government denied it.

Matters then came to a head when the now emboldened hired thugs in Abuja went and set fire on innocent car dealers’ vehicles in a car park.

The equally now emboldened and unchecked criminal elements in Lagos State began to mount road blocks at different parts of the state to cause severe vehicular traffic, extort money and rob innocent citizens of the country going about their normal duty.

In all these, the state government of Lagos failed to act and the police force also refused to move in to nip these criminal activities as it continued to escalate.

Unfortunately, the criminal elements now started attacking police officers who either were trying to check their excesses or were going on their own business.

These criminals began to burn down police stations in different parts of the state. Rival cult groups in different parts of the state took advantage of the crisis to attack and kill each other.

In trying to check the now dangerous situation, the Lagos State government imposed a 24-hour curfew. However, the peaceful protesters at the Lekki-Epe expressway toll gate insisted that they would not leave that place and remained there instead.

Same day, the CCTV cameras of the toll gate were taken down and when evening came, the lights provided to illuminate the area where the protesters were gathered was shut down.

Shortly as darkness set in, a group of men dressed in military gear drove against the traffic in the opposite direction to face the protesters.

No long after this, heavy gun shooting began from the armed military men as the protesters now scampered for safety and in the process some of them were hit by bullets.

When news and videos of this unfortunate incident began to surface over the internet, it caused an outrage amongst the citizens in Nigeria and outside the country as to why a decision was taken to invite military personnel to shoot at unarmed peaceful protesters under the cover of darkness.

Consequently, using the unfortunate Lekki toll gate shooting as an incentive and catalyst, the hitherto unchecked criminal elements in Lagos and even other parts of the nation went on a rampage to start burning down police stations, banks, public and even private properties.

These ungodly criminal elements went on a looting spree and wreaked havoc on innocent people’s businesses, breaking into offices and shops to steal mobile phones, money from ATMs, computers, jewellery, clothing, shoes, televisions, perfumes, furniture, household gadgets, stationery, generators, etc.

What started out as a peaceful protest had now been hijacked by thugs and criminals all because the state government of Lagos first took a wrong decision to allow these thugs to operate freely, and then took another wrong decision to use force from military personnel to shoot at unarmed peaceful protesters.

With further reactions on social media, internet criminals started hacking into people’s bank accounts using fraudulent links sent by text or email to people’s phones for them to click.

Other criminals started posting and spreading fake news items taking images of actors in movie scenes depicting wounded and even dead people and posting them as corpses of the victims of the Lekki toll gate shooting.

Several figures of fatalities began to emerge from 1 to 2 to 4 to 9 to 12 deaths even when some of the ‘dead’ have since resurrected to say they were alive or not even at the place of shooting in the first place.

Nobody seems to know the actual fatalities of the unfortunate incident.

But what is obvious is that those who took this wicked and ungodly decision did so purely for the love of money because the toll gate is a money spinner for them and so the lives of the people there mattered little to them.

Dear friend, the reason why I have taken time to provide these details is because there is a very important point I want to bring out here, which is that everyone who acted wrongly in all the ways mentioned above are wicked people and there is no peace for the wicked, says the Lord God Almighty and Father of my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ.

For avoidance of any doubt, below are the wicked as far as this carnage is concerned:

ü  The criminal elements in the police force who took advantage of their position as government agents and used their government assigned weapons to maim, rob and even kill innocent citizens.

ü  All agents of the government at Federal and State level who either failed to act quickly to nip the crisis OR acted to escalate the crisis.

ü  The persons who took a decision to use soldiers to launch an attack on peaceful unarmed protesters rather than use them to engage and contain the activities of the criminal elements who were looting, burning public and private properties nationwide.

ü  The military decision makers who sent soldiers after peaceful protesters.

ü  The commanding officer who gave the order to shoot.

ü  The soldiers who obeyed the order to shoot. In rules of engagement in war situations, it is a criminal offence to shoot at a soldier who has surrendered, how much more when an unarmed civilian is involved.

It is both an ungodly and heartless act.

This is the very matter the peaceful protesters were demonstrating about and this is the very action was taken against them by the same government who promised to deal with it. How ungodly can that be?

ü  All who are involved in this ungodly act and have denied it.

ü  All who hired and sent thugs after the peaceful protesters and escalated the crisis.

ü  The criminal elements who hijacked the peaceful protests nationwide to loot businesses of private citizens and burn down government and private buildings.

ü  All those who bought or will buy the stolen items of merchandise of innocent citizens. This includes all who would help them carry, store or use the stolen items.

ü  Every person who shot at and killed innocent people.

ü  All those who engaged in mob action to kill policemen. These are heartless people who were protesting brutality against them but did not fail to show the same brutality against policemen.

ü  Every person who concocted in his heart and started a false information on social media concerning this crisis thus escalating it.

ü  Every person who upon receiving false information concerning this crisis quickly spread it to others without first validating the facts.

God Almighty is clear that no human being should start a false information and no human being should spread false information and you shall not join with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness – Exodus 23:1

Dear friend, every one of these persons who is still alive today needs to repent sincerely, confess their sins openly to God and man asking for forgiveness before it is too late.

All criminal elements who stole items of merchandise and their accomplices (buyers, carriers, keepers, users, etc) MUST make proper restitution by returning the stolen items wherever they looted them from.

Where they fail to do this, let it be clear to them that it is unto them as the Word of God has stated in today’s lead Holy Bible text.

They will not know peace and if they fail to repent and make restitution where necessary, then they would certainly enter an eternal damnation in HELL when they die and leave this world.

I will end with this Holy Bible text stated in Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25 (AMPC), There is a way that seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death.”

Every human being will face God’s judgement for our actions and inactions on this earth – 2 Corinthians 5:10.

A Word is enough for the wise.

Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.

Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
