THE MAJOR REASON MANY GENUINE CHRISTIANS GET IN TROUBLE WITH GOD (2)
GALATIANS 1: 11-17 (NKJV)
“11 But
I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not
according to man.
12 For I neither received it from man, nor was
I taught it, but it came through the revelation of
Jesus Christ.
13 For you have heard of my former conduct in
Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy
it.
14 And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my
contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for
the traditions of my fathers.
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me
from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,
16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might
preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and
blood,
17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles
before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.”
Dear people of God, I once read from a book written by a very
popular minister of the Gospel (though late now) how Christians should not build
doctrines around certain religious experiences.
Recently, a pastor friend of mine in response to our discussions
on revelations received by some Christians from the Lord also echoed a similar
comment saying we should not build doctrines through visions and revelations,
but we should rely on what is stated in the Word of God in the Bible.
I understand what my friend is trying to say but the very
statement from Paul the Apostle seen above in today’s lead Bible text shows his
own experience was different, in the sense that it was the Lord Jesus Christ
Himself Who gave Paul revelations about the messages Paul shared with the
gentile churches.
So this shows it is possible for one to get a Divine Revelation
from the Lord Jesus Christ and it would be accurate to share it with other
Christians because that is why the Lord gave the message in the first place.
This is again, one area where many Christians get into trouble
with God because most of the time, they doubt, scoff at, discard and just
ignore the message and attack the messenger.
How unfortunate.
One major point I also want to bring out however, is what Paul the
Apostle also mentioned in this Scripture, how in his former practise of Judaism
he was focused and determined to serve the God of his fathers in a way that was
above the common practice of his contemporaries.
Paul the Apostle was obedient to God’s law but was ignorantly persecuting
the Church of Christ established by the same God of his forefathers. So as far Judaism
was concerned, Paul was not an offender.
This must have been the quality Jesus Christ my Lord saw in Paul
the Apostle and called him into service in the work of the Gospel.
It may also be because the Christians feared Paul the persecutor
of the church, that the Lord may have decided to teach him directly to pass the
Gospel message to the gentiles.
Dear friend, the lesson here is that God desires all humans to
be saved and to know Him as their Father. Therefore, anyone He sees in any part
of the world who is serious about knowing the Truth of God, who fears God and
walks in righteousness, He will in His prerogative of mercy intervene to save
such person.
This is evident in the comment of Peter the Apostle concerning the
Roman Centurion Cornelius in Acts 10:34-35.
Nobody has any excuse therefore to remain in ignorance claiming
the religion he or she is following is the right one.
If you are living right in integrity with fear of God and sincere
about leaving this world to enter heaven, then ask the true God of heaven to
reveal Himself to you and He surely will lead you to the Lord Jesus Christ Who
alone is the Saviour of all mankind.
As a second lesson, this is a warning to Christians who discard
Divine Revelations to learn from the experience of Paul the Apostle.
The Bible says even the Christians of Paul the Apostle’s day glorified
God to learn that the same person who once persecuted them was now preaching
the same faith – Galatians 1:23-24.
Again, Christian brother or sister reading this message, please
and please save yourself from entering serious trouble with the Lord whenever
you hear, read or listen to a Divine Revelation message from another Christian.
The sensible thing is to go to the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer
to confirm or deny the message.
Unfortunately, very few Christians understand that they are
calling God a liar when they despise Divine Revelations, and many are going to
be damned for this great sin against God unless they genuinely repent and amend
their ways before it is too late.
After the ongoing Great Tribulation, Jesus Christ is coming to
take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the
Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for
Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on
it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
