“Let
no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or
worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is
good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to
the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace
(God's favor) to those who hear it.
30 And
do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by
Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God's own, secured) for the day of
redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences
of sin).”
Dear people of God, the Holy Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21
(AMPC) that death and life are in the power of the tongue and they who indulge
in it shall eat the fruit of it (for death or life).
Truth be told, as far as this world is concerned, there are no
ordinary or idle words contrary to what many people believe. Every spoken word from
a human being carries a spiritual meaning and effect because God created the
world that way.
In fact, the Lord Jesus Christ warns
us about our spoken words and the eternal danger of careless or idle words in
Matthew 12:36-37 (AMPC), “But
I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every idle
(inoperative, nonworking) word they speak.
37 For
by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you
will be condemned and sentenced.”
If this is how serious words spoken by humans are, what then do
you think is the value, seriousness and power behind God’s Word, the Holy
Bible?
If the words of humans have consequences whether for good or
evil, then be sure the Word of God also has consequences, whether for good or
judgement.
It is therefore an amazement why any preacher of the Gospel
would stand on the pulpit, quote God’s Word, trivialize it by using it to crack
jokes!!
What is even more astonishing is the fact that some of these preachers
quote from Holy Scriptures to crack jokes to support a false teaching they are
propagating contrary to God’s Word.
For instance, I watched a video recently of a woman preacher who
was encouraging Christian women to indulge in immorality in their marital
relations with their husbands by trying out different styles.
She went as far as quoting from the Bible in Deuteronomy 28:13b
to state that we (addressing the womenfolk) are to be on top only and not
beneath and so the women should change position or change address by being on
top of their husbands!!!
First of all, this lady preacher offends God by functioning as a
pastor contrary to God’s command in 1 Corinthians 14:33b-38 and 1 Timothy
2:11-12.
Secondly, she is propagating a false teaching by asking MARRIED
CHRISTIAN WOMEN to adopt styles during their intimacy with their husbands.
Thirdly and worst of all, she is quoting God’s Holy Word and twisting
it to support her false teaching. What greater sacrilege could one commit than
this?
And the members of the congregation found it funny, joined her
to laugh and unknowingly joined in her sin against God!
Just as we are warned in today’s lead Holy Bible text above,
such careless statements should never come from a Christian’s mouth because it
grieves God’s Holy Spirit.
Dear friend, have you ever read anywhere in the Holy Bible where
God cracked jokes with His Word? Have you read anywhere in the Bible Jesus
Christ the Word of God in human form cracked a joke using God’s Word?
Have you read in the Bible where any of the early Church
Christians cracked jokes using God’s Word?
If God were joking about this Word, why would He tell us that He
watches over His Word to perform it? (Jeremiah 1:12). If God were joking with
His Word, why would He tell us to believe and trust in Him and which of His
Words would we know to take serious?
Would God joking with His Word not turn Him out to be a liar?
Can God ever tell a lie? Is He no longer a Holy God that we know Him to be?
Of course God is forever Holy, Righteous and Just because He
said He never changes – Malachi 3:6a; Hebrews 13:8.
From where then do such preachers get their brazenness using
God’s Divine Word as a tool for comedy?
Unfortunately, this is one major reason why the church today is
filled with people who take God’s Truth, Holiness and Righteousness for granted
because their spiritual leaders have turned the altar into a comedy zone.
God’s Word is very accurate in describing such people as
characteristic of the last days’ worshippers as stated in 2 Timothy 3:5 (AMPC),
“For
[although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and
reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the
genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from
them].
Are you a preacher who stands on God’s altar to quote
God’s Word and use it to crack jokes? Repent today and now, confess your sin to
God and desist from such despicable behaviour before it is too late.
Even if your points raised during preaching makes
people laugh, please and please don’t quote God’s Word to crack a joke because
it is highly offensive to God.
Are you a member of such congregation where your
pastor trivializes God’s Word through jokes as a motivational speaker? Run away
from such gathering before it is too late for you.
Also, pray for God to show mercy and open the spiritual
eyes of understanding of such preacher to his or her folly for genuine
repentance before it is too late.
Do not say nobody warned you because God does not
joke with His Word and no human being has any right to do so.
Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take in Rapture ONLY those who
are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for
Him? Repent and come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
Once Jesus takes away His children, the entire earth would come under
God’s wrath and Divine judgement in a most terrible manner never experienced
before.
Why do you risk your life in sin, risk the grave danger, pain
and suffering ahead and risk ultimately damning your soul forever in the lake
of fire?
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on
it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
