“And
Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.
29 He
said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came
toward Jesus.
30 But
when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightened, and as he
began to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me [from death]!
31 Instantly
Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, O you
of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Dear people of God, no doubt there are many things that can
cause fear in a person’s life – sickness, poverty, job loss, threat to life, medical
doctor’s report, examination result, loss of a loved one, marital challenges, and
anything else that threatens a person’s mental and physical well-being.
I want you to notice something in today’s lead Holy Bible text
above. When the Lord Jesus called out to him, Peter was able to walk on the
water without any problem.
However, immediately Peter considered the wind, he became
frightened and started sinking into the water. The fear in Peter was internal
on his mind but we see the physical effect in that he started sinking in the
water.
This is evidence that if Peter had not considered fear in his
heart on the “unknown” dangers the wind posed to him, he would have still
walked on the water with the Lord Jesus until he came back to the boat.
This should give one an idea of the destructive nature of fear
in a person’s life and just how serious it is that one must avoid fear at all
costs.
The online dictionary defines FEAR as “an
unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm.”
This emotion of fear leads people to imagine the worst of a
situation that has not even happened, but the person is paralysed by NEGATIVE
thoughts of these things.
The resultant effect of fear is always negative seen by
sickness, disease and sinking as seen in Apostle Peter’s case. When you examine
such a person’s brain in an X-Ray, you would notice a dark patch that shows
something is wrong with the person emotionally and a chemical is released from
the person’s brain into the body that causes damage if not halted.
The Bible tells us that God has NOT given us a spirit of fear
but of courage, love and a sound mind – 2 Timothy 1:7. So fear is a foul spirit
whose damaging effect is manifested physically in the negative events seen in a
person’s life.
Fear not only destroys a person’s immune system to permit and cause
sickness, but it also erodes a person’s faith and affects the person
spiritually and physically.
Fear must therefore be avoided at all costs in a person’s life.
There are people who believe one cannot live without one fear or
another in this life. Well, no doubt the things that cause fear in people’s
lives continue to arise daily because the devil still operates as the god of
this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) causing confusion and inflicting sorrow and pain
in human lives.
However, glory be to God Almighty and Father of my Saviour and
Lord Jesus Christ Who has given us victory, authority and power in His Name
over ALL the powers of the enemy (the devil, demons and their human agents) and
NOTHING shall by any means hurt us – Luke 10:19.
All we need do to resist the fear spirit by the enemy triggering
negative emotions is to know our rights in Christ, stand on our rights and
enforce them in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
These rights in Christ are clearly stated in the Holy Bible so
you must study, meditate and confess them daily to become a part of you.
Always give a command in the Name of Jesus Christ to the foul
spirit of fear, anxiety, worry and doubt to depart from your life and then
focus your mind on what God’s Word says concerning you as His child as far as
that particular matter is concerned and declare it with your own mouth.
Then thank and worship God Who alone can do all things for you
as your Father and the first thing you notice is that the negative emotion
disappears and then a peace that surpasses all understanding comes into your
heart.
Take note that money cannot solve all problems but Jesus Christ
the Messiah is the Solution to every problem in this world caused by the enemy,
the devil.
Give your life to Jesus Christ and He will solve all your
problems for He loves you with an everlasting love – Matthew 11:28-30.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed
His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
