HOW GOD BLESSES HIS CHILDREN
2 Chronicles 7:14-15 (AMPC)
“If
My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek,
crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
15 Now
My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place.”
Dear people of God, I have observed online how many people
respond quickly to messages pronouncing blessing and prayers on them.
However, the responses are much fewer when it comes to
admonition on proper Christian conduct expected of everyone who professes
Christ Jesus as their Saviour and Lord.
God Almighty and Father of my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ has
offered all human beings eternal salvation on a platter of gold, FREE of any
charge; however, Jesus Christ Himself paid a heavy price for all humans to have
this FREE salvation.
The Bible has record of a number of people and all His people
God promised to bless BUT there is always a condition attached to this
blessing, which is that they MUST hearken diligently to every one of His
command.
Let me remind you that it was man’s disobedience to God’s Divine
command at the beginning that brought God’s curse upon this world – Genesis
3:1-19. We see evidence of this with the current state of disarray, hardship,
pain, sorrow, tragedies and suffering people experience daily in different
nations of the world.
It is man who brought this upon himself but God in His infinite
love and mercy provided a Solution to this problem when He offered His only
Begotten Son, Jesus Christ the Messiah to suffer a horrible public humiliation
and death at Calvary.
Jesus Christ rose again on the third day to prove that He was
God’s Messiah to all mankind.
God then has given Jesus Christ a Name above all names and at
the Name of Jesus Christ, every knee MUST bow of things in heaven, on earth and
under the earth and every tongue must confess and acknowledge Jesus Christ as
Messiah to the glory of God– Philippians 2:8-11.
Jesus obeyed God and God rewarded Him.
God entered a covenant with Abram to make Him a father of
nations and to bless himself and his descendants forever. God then changed His Name
from Abram (high, exalted father) to Abraham (father of a multitude) and
fulfilled His promise to Abraham as recorded in the Bible.
However, God hinged this covenant of blessing on Abraham walking
with Him in perfection and without any blame – Genesis 17:1-5.
God promised to bless the Israelites but on the condition that
they hearkened diligently to His every command – Deuteronomy 28:1-2.
Even though God blessed Solomon with wisdom and enormous wealth
based on His covenant with David (his father) and his descendants, God promised
to lengthen Solomon’s days as long as Solomon remained obedient to His
commandment – 1 Kings 3:13-14.
In all these examples, you must have noticed a pattern that God
does not just bless people unless they obey His commandment or His Word.
Yes, God promises a prerogative of His mercy to anyone He
chooses (Exodus 33:19; Romans 9:15-16) but it is not to be construed that God would
tolerate disobedience to His commands from such person because He is also a God
of Justice, Righteousness and Holiness.
Therefore, pastors and Christians who are fond of sending
prayers of God’s blessings to their fellow Christians should never forget to
remind these same people that God’s blessing comes with a willingness and
practise of adhering strictly to His commands.
This is why I love pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye of the Redeemed
Christian Church of God who would usually start with letting you know about the
promises and blessings of God in the Holy Bible BUT would never forget to
remind you that the God Who promises these blessings is a no-nonsense
disciplinarian Who demands an absolute loyalty on your part to His commands in
the same Holy Bible.
Dear friend, do you want to enjoy God’s blessings here on earth
and end up in eternal damnation hereafter? Certainly not!
Therefore, you must take time to study God’s Word to understand
His ways through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit and to walk in His
ways, hearken to His commands and do exactly what He says.
Jesus’ coming for His children in the Rapture is imminent. Are
you His child or are you born again? Are you ready for Him?
Come to Jesus Christ the Word of God today and now, for tomorrow
or later may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed
His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Merciful Name, Amen.
