A MAJOR HINDRANCE TO AN AFRICAN CHRISTIAN’S PRAYERS

Matthew 11:24-26 (AMPC)

For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].

25 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop.

26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your failings and shortcomings.”

Dear people of God, the African child who is not a Christian is usually taught as a child to hate others especially when he is born and raised in a polygamous home.

His mum teaches him to love only his siblings and hate the children of the other women.

When this African child becomes an adult and God arrests him through His Word in the Holy Bible to become a Christian, again, he is taught by his church and pastors to hate his human enemies and pray against any human that wants to hurt him or anything that concerns him.

Nowhere in the New Testament are we told as Christians to pray against our human enemies because the foundation of Christianity is love and someone who loves cannot pray for the death or destruction of his fellow humans.

In today’s Holy Bible text, the Lord Jesus Christ says whenever we pray, we should believe that our prayer has been granted and we will get it.

However, the Lord Jesus continues His comment in verse 25 using the conjunction word “and” to show the condition under which our prayers can be answered, which is that we MUST forgive anyone who offends us so our Father in Heaven can forgive our offenses.

It is pertinent and sad to note that failure of the African Christian to meet this condition arising from misleading prayers taught by their spiritual leaders is a major reason and hindrance to God answering their prayers.

Ask yourself how many times you have seen on Television or Crusades Christians outside the continent of Africa praying for their enemies to die?

Since you know they don’t pray such prayers, don’t you see how they make progress over African Christians who pray against their human enemies?

Dear friend, there is no way you can claim to love or to have forgiven your human enemies and at the same time pray against them for their death or destruction.

It is not possible.

So if you violate God’s Word by your refusal to forgive an offender, how would God forgive you? If God does not forgive you because you have failed to keep His condition of forgiveness for your prayers to be answered, why would you ever expect the same God to answer and grant your prayer request?

Can you now see that you are the cause of your own problem? For many African Christians, daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law are sworn enemies despite God asking them to walk in love with their fellow Christians.

You also find sisters-in-law hating each other and yet claiming to be Christians.

If you continue in this evil practise of having a list of human enemies and praying against them for their death and destruction, forget about receiving any answers to your prayers from God.

Take note also that your refusal to forgive an offender gives the devil a LEGAL RIGHT over your life and be sure that the devil would afflict you and can kill you in the process through sickness or accident.

Unfortunately, if you fail to repent from this evil practice and you die in the process, you can be certain that HELL FIRE is your eternal destination because whoever hates his or her brother or sister is a murderer and no murderer has eternal life abiding in him or her – 1 John 3:15.

So if you want your prayers answered as Jesus Christ has told you today, all you have to do is obey and fulfil the condition of forgiveness for offenders and God would honour His Word and answer your prayers.

If you want to enter heaven at the end of your stay on earth, do the same thing by walking in love toward others including those who hate and despise you.

Jesus’ coming for His children in the Rapture is imminent. Are you His child or are you born again? Are you ready for Him?

Come to Jesus Christ the Word of God today and now, for tomorrow or later may be too late for you.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Merciful Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
