THE LOVE OF MONEY (2)
Luke 12:15 (AMPC)“And He (Jesus Christ) said to
them, Guard yourselves and keep free from all covetousness (the immoderate
desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more); for a man's life does not
consist in and is not derived from possessing overflowing
abundance or that which is over and above his needs.” Dear people of God, there is nowhere in the Holy Bible God
condemns wealth or riches because the wealth of the world belongs to God and He
created it for humans as confirmed in Genesis 1:28-31 and Proverbs 10:22. What the Word of God condemns is the love of money and covetousness.
The issue of love of money was addressed in the first part of this post. As for covetousness, it means an inordinate desire for wealth or
possessions or for another's possessions. It
breeds envy, jealousy and hatred for the legitimate owner, which at times ends
in murder of the legitimate owner just to acquire the possessions illegally. This is why people steal and acquire money illegally and pile up
resources over and above their needs and are never interested in sharing with
others who are in dire need. Note however, that the fact that you steal or acquire funds
illegitimately and share with the needy in society would NEVER make it
acceptable to God, never! Covetousness is also why men take other people’s wives, women
take other people’s husbands and humans generally engaging in evil desecration
of fellow humans physically or spiritually just to take what belongs to them. Money is required in this world for so many objectives and
projects. However, God only approves of legitimate means of acquiring it. One way to earn money is by providing value either by a service
or product that addresses people’s needs. You can also get money legitimately from cash gifts and/or
family inheritance. Any means of acquiring money that hurts or harms others is
clearly unacceptable to God. For instance, embezzlement of public funds by government
officials and their cronies, armed robbery, prostitution, theft of funds
whether from your employer, family, friends, spouse, church, etc. as means of
acquiring money is forbidden by the Lord and an abomination before Him. It is pertinent to note that the money God allows man to acquire
legitimately must be used to better themselves and their fellow humans in
society. You must never use your resources to oppress or cause hardship
to anyone. As an employer of labour, you must pay your staff or service
provider promptly for legitimate work done as contained in their contract. Money is also necessary for the work of the Gospel to organize
activities and programs where the Truth of God’s Word is preached to lost souls
in dire need of repentance and Salvation found only in Jesus Christ my Saviour
and Messiah. This is an acceptable way of proving to God that you appreciate
Him as the owner of your life, as your Provider and Source of all you have as
well as having genuine interest in the heart beat of God, which is Evangelism. Every human being will certainly account to God for their source
of income and how it was used, so it is necessary to understand what God
expects of us and to ensure to align your life with His expectation as far as
money is concerned. Do not allow money to become a god in your life because that is
idolatry and unacceptable to the Lord. Jesus’ coming for His children in the Rapture is imminent. Are
you His child or are you born again? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus Christ the Word of God today and now, for tomorrow
or later may be too late for you. May the good Lord bless you as you heed
His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen. Gabriel Ama.
