THE LOVE OF MONEY

1 Timothy 6:9-10 (AMPC)
“But those who crave to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish (useless, godless) and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction and miserable perishing.
 
10 For the love of money is a root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have been led astray and have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many acute [mental] pangs.
 
Dear people of God, years ago one would never have imagined the extent of depravity witnessed in today’s world by the youth in their crave for financial resources.
 
Sometime in late January 2022, I saw an online video of two young men in a busy traffic major road intersection in one of the South Eastern States of Nigeria who took off their shorts and sat on a potty to defecate.
 
One of them then stood up, took a loaf of bread, rub on his backside to take some of the faeces and ate the loaf of the bread with the faeces in it.
 
All this happened as someone was very close to them filming while the video I saw of the scene was by someone from a passing vehicle.
 
It is said that herbalists or voodoo priests are the ones who instruct them to do this as part of the evil rituals for money.
 
I also saw a video of a man who stopped a lady wearing a burqa who was walking and making a mobile phone call on a busy road and asked to speak to her.
 
The lady ended her phone call and the man then told her he was making a challenge but that he was not a ritualist. He then offered the lady N20,000 ($40) to take off her underwear right there on the road and he would take it, return it to her and give her the money.
 
He showed her the money and after an initial hesitation and looking around, the man persuaded her to comply and while the man put on a hand glove, the lady went ahead to take off her underwear and then the video ended.
 
What the lady did not know was that someone was filming the entire thing from a distance.
 
I have seen videos where at major road junctions, little money was offered to young men to take off their trousers and tee-shirts, run within the area in their boxer shorts and return and they complied to collect the money.
 
Dear friend, just as the Bible warns us today, the crave for riches and the love of money is driving many young adults into engaging in ungodly acts.
 
Married couples are selling their children including new-born babies, young men are killing their neighbours and relatives for money and in one instance, there was a report of a mother and her son who colluded to eliminate their own blood child/brother for ritual purposes all for money.
 
The devil seems to be having a field day convincing unsaved individuals to do his evil bidding all for the love of money.
 
When these people face God on Judgement Day, what would be their excuse because the Lord Jesus Christ would ask them whether they came to Him for help and He refused?
 
What kind of money would one look for and is ready to shamelessly commit ungodly acts for it?
 
Is the Holy Bible not clear enough in Matthew 4:4 that God said humans should NOT live by bread alone but by every Word He has spoken?
 
Does the same Holy Bible not teach us the Words of the Master Himself Jesus Christ in Matthew 6:33 Who stated clearly that humans should FIRST seek God’s Kingdom and His Righteousness and all other things we desire God shall give us?
 
There is no excuse for sin and the love of money.
 
No doubt, it is demonic spirits operating in these unsaved individuals that makes them engage in such despicable acts for money.
 
However, God has NOT given up on them because He knows that unless these folks repent genuinely and return to Him through the Lord Jesus Christ their end is eternal damnation along with the devil, demons and their human agents.
 
Therefore, the Lord Jesus Christ insists that Christians should take His Word to preach the Gospel to every creature the world over and whoever believes and is baptised would be saved.
 
On the other hand, whoever rejects the Gospel message of Repentance and Salvation found only in Jesus Christ would be damned.
 
As Jesus Christ warns in Mark 8:36 (AMPC), “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life [in the eternal kingdom of God]?”
 
Jesus’ coming for His children in the Rapture is imminent. Are you His child or are you born again? Are you ready for Him?
 
Come to Jesus Christ the Word of God today and now, for tomorrow or later may be too late for you.
 
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
