THE RIGHT BOOK(S) TO STUDY ON RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
2 Timothy 2:15-18 (AMPC)15 Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
16 But avoid all empty (vain, useless, idle) talk, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness.
17 And their teaching [will devour; it] will eat its way like cancer or spread like gangrene. So it is with Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 Who have missed the mark and swerved from the truth by arguing that the resurrection has already taken place. They are undermining the faith of some."
Dear people of God, just last Saturday January 5, 2019, my spouse and I went on Evangelism and we encountered a man who introduced himself as “a student of the Bible.”
We later discovered the man does not attend Church but has been making a study of the Holy Bible.
The man initially collected the tract I handed him, read a bit of it and then returned to me. When I asked him why he returned the tract, he was unwilling to let us know but I pressed further and he said I should speak to him if I wanted to.
I told him I needed to know why he returned the tract and what was on his mind so as to know how to approach our discussion.
The man eventually said it was because he saw the word “HELL” in the tract and he personally does not believe in the existence of a HELL where souls of dead people would suffer eternally.
This man went ahead to tell us how he studies the Bible every single day and that he has many versions of the Bible.
He said so many things including reading other literature and even made reference to one Bible encyclopedia he obtained from a church denomination where he read that the Lord Jesus Christ did not die on a Cross as generally believed by Christians.
He said there is a difference between an unrighteous person and a wicked person. When pressed to explain this point, he said a wicked person deliberately thinks out an evil plan and executes it, while an unrighteous person commits sin but not wilfully and then regrets it immediately.
Even though the man spoke most of the time, I tried to give him some key points he needed to know, which are:
The Holy Bible is the infallible Word of God every Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ should study – 2 Timothy 3:16.
Any book that gives a message that contradicts the Truth of God’s Word found ONLY in the Holy Bible should be discarded.
All unrighteousness is sin – 1 John 5:17
There is sin that DOES NOT leads to SPIRITUAL death and we can pray for someone who commits such. There is also sin that leads to SPIRITUAL death and we cannot pray for someone who commits such – 1 John 5:16-17.
The sin that DOES NOT lead to spiritual death is committed by (a) unbelievers or non-Christians and (b) a Christian who has not fulfilled ALL the conditions stated in Hebrews 6:4-6.
The sin that leads to SPIRITUAL death is committed by Believers in Christ who have fulfilled ALL the conditions listed in Hebrews 6:4-6.
As we were discussing, the man had to leave and so we could not conclude our discussion.
Dear friend, the point here is that as shown in today’s lead Holy Bible text, there are some people, Christians inclusive who study God’s Word and other books that contradict God’s Word and they then teach the erroneous message they have imbibed.
Also, it is even worse for someone who is trying to find out the Truth about God, the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit when the person leaves the Truth of the Holy Bible and starts reading contradicting literature in other books.
The end result is that the person would be left in a worse state of ungodliness and may never find out the Truth about God.
As expected of all Christians, our duty is to go out and tell the Truth of God’s Word in the Bible to all who need to hear so.
Also, we should pray for such people and I have prayed for this man I encountered that the good Lord would remind him of the points I discussed with him and to open his eyes of understanding to know the Truth about God.
We must be careful what literature we study. I would advise newly converted Christians and even experienced and matured Christians to focus on the Holy Bible and leave other literature that gives a contrary message to God’s Word.
Study ONLY literature that supports God’s Word in the Bible always.
This would ensure the door is not opened to satan to afflict and confuse the person while the Holy Spirit of God would teach and explain His Word to such person as stated in 1 John 2:27.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Precious Name, Amen.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Click HERE to buy the Book NOW, I UNDERSTAND to study to discover your many rights as a Christian so you can live holy and victoriously in every area of your life always and then go join the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven when you depart this world. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
