PRAISING GOD IN TIMES OF DIFFICULTIES

Psalm 27:5-6 (AMPC)

“5 For in the day of trouble He (God) will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.

6 And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Dear people of God, how easy is it to praise God in a time of extreme difficulty? I believe it is a challenging thing to do for most people.

Even people who see you do this would think something is probably wrong with you, but they are wrong!!

When you study today’s lead text above, you find the Psalmist tell you what God would do for you in the day of trouble when you trust in Him.

He would hide you in His shelter, in His secret place and set you high upon a rock.

In essence, God would not abandon you as many are wont to believe.

If only such people could understand that God is NOT the author of pain, difficulties and challenges, then the situation would become clearer to them.

The author of difficulties is satan because the Lord Jesus Christ makes this clear when He spoke in John 10:10, “The thief (satan and his agents) comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I (Jesus Christ) came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

This statement from the Lord is very clear. The ONLY work of the devil and his agents is to steal, kill and destroy. Their objective is to discourage the Christian and make it look as if God’s Word does not work for them so the Christian could backslide and sin against God.

This is certainly not true because God’s Words are Spirit and they are Life – they ALWAYS work for the Believer, the person who holds steadfast to God’s Scripture promises regardless of the magnitude of his troubles.

We must learn to praise God in difficulties because He is our Father and a Father that would never abandon His children to hardship.

When you praise God in difficulties, you are telling Him that He is the Solution to the challenge and not the author. So you must never speak ignorantly by saying maybe God is using this difficulty to teach you a lesson.

What lesson?

One important point I want you to note is that for you to praise God successfully to get His attention to help, you MUST only ensure that your life is in right standing with God so that the devil does not take advantage of you and even kill you in the process.

You must not be found wanting as far as God’s Word is concerned. Yes, this is possible because Jesus says whoever makes a habit of sin (wrongdoing) is a slave of sin – John 8:34. So you can live above sin with the help of God’s Holy Spirit through His Word in the Holy Bible.

When you have erred and offended God, you must acknowledge it, repent genuinely, ask God for forgiveness and make amends immediately.

When you have unforgiveness lurking in your heart against anyone, you must repent also before God and reconcile with the person unconditionally.

Then take your mind off your difficulties and praise God, worship Him, thank Him and just dance in His presence. God would respond and resolve the problem for you, that I can assure you, dear friend.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in the Holy Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
