THE WORKS OF THE FLESH - PARTY SPIRIT
Galatians 5:19-21 (AMPC)
“19 Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency,
20 Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies),
21 Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Dear people of God, sometimes, people get into activities that are offensive to God without even realizing their actions and its gravity.
For instance, today’s lead Holy Bible text above warns against party spirit or forming factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies.
You can find such behaviour in offices and even in Churches. I want to limit my review to these two areas because you find Christians here who unwittingly get into this dangerous behaviour.
When as a Christian you form groups or gangs in your place of work against constituted authority or in the Church against Ecclesiastical authority, you are working yourself out of God’s kingdom.
Some people or group of people are so tribalistic in their reasoning that once their superior is not from their ethnic nationality, they cannot find anything good about the superior.
How do you expect to enter heaven with such behaviour? Did God not create everyone equal? Did God make any ethnic nationality greater or better than others?
Why do you see everything about others from a myopic ethnic or chauvinistic viewpoint?
Why can’t you view the persons as God’s creation just as you are and live in peace and harmony with them? Why label people derogatory names as though you are superior to them?
Even if you have all the wealth in the world or the highest social or political status, God sees you just the same way He sees the poorest or most disadvantaged person – as an equal.
Dear friend, if this discriminatory act has been your pattern of life, you have another opportunity today to repent before God and amend your ways before Him before it is too late.
God did not create you that way, which is why the Word of God above calls such action, works or practises or doings of the flesh, which means you have allowed your flesh to override your spirit as a Christian and this is sinful.
All humans are equal before God even when God has made some to be leaders. Learn to love people first as God’s creation and as humans before anything else.
This way, discrimination on any level would not be found in you against anyone else.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.
