OPPRESSORS SHOULD REMEMBER THEY ARE JUST HUMAN BEINGS
Jeremiah 5:26-29 (AMPC)
27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit and treachery; therefore, they have become great and grown rich,
28 They have grown fat and sleek. Yes, they surpass in deeds of wickedness; they do not judge and plead with justice the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper, and they do not defend the rights of the needy.
29 Shall I not punish them for these things? says the Lord. Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?”
Dear people of God, sometime in March 2019, I learnt of the demise of a notorious landgrabber who for many years terrorized many landlords and residents living along the Ajah/Sangotedo axis of Eti-Osa Local government area of Lagos State, Nigeria in the early years of the millennium.
The man is reported to have died from an undisclosed ailment on Sunday March 24, 2019 at the young age of 59 years.
This man had suddenly moved into the area with thugs, took over peoples’ lands and built a palace for himself. He went into the adjourning areas, marked X on people’s properties and asked them to come and pay royalty to him otherwise they should consider their properties foreclosed.
After foreclosing people’s properties, he went ahead to sell the same properties to multiple persons without caring a hoot about their feelings or welfare.
Sadly, too, the law enforcement agents and even the State and local governments turned a blind eye to this oppressor’s activities and that further encouraged and emboldened him the more in his nefarious activities using thugs armed with guns, charms and dangerous weapons with which he caused untold pains to many.
But now, he has died and it is now unto him as every other dead human as stated in God’s Word in Hebrews 9:27 (AMPC), “And just as it is appointed for [all] men once to die, and after that the [certain] judgment,”
Now, this man has realised that he is just a man and not a god that he was playing in the lives of many in the area where he lived. In death, he has not taken a single dime of all his ill-gotten wealth.
Just like many who are alive today, he had numerous opportunities to amend his evil ways and make peace with his Maker, God Almighty and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ but there is no record of that and his case has become the fate of all who tow similar line of an evil life – an eternal damnation in HELL.
For those in law enforcement and in government who turned a blind eye against this oppressor’s activities including those who aided him directly as his thugs, a huge burden of sin hangs on their heads as long as they are alive and time is fast running out for them to repent, confess to God, ask for forgiveness and reconcile with their Maker.
Once you die in sin, God’s Word in Hebrews 9:27 kicks in and you earn your eternal consequence for your sinful deeds here on earth.
Are you a man or woman who oppresses the poor, the widow, the orphan, the helpless in society because you think no one would fight for them or come to their aid?
Are you a child molester in your neighbourhood or place of employment because you believe no one is watching you? Do you treat your domestic helps at home as slaves but treat your own biological kids as princes and princesses?
Are you relatives of a dead man who have come to drive out your late brother’s wife and children and have taken over their properties because you think you are able to do so without any consequence?
Are you a judge of a court who receives bribes from the rich to pervert justice against the poor and needy?
Listen to what God says in Isaiah 10:1-3 (AMPC), “WOE TO those [judges] who issue unrighteous decrees, and to the magistrates who keep causing unjust and oppressive decisions to be recorded,
2 To turn aside the needy from justice and to make plunder of the rightful claims of the poor of My people, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!
3 And what will you do in the day of visitation [of God's wrath], and in the desolation which shall come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you deposit [for safekeeping] your wealth and with whom leave your glory?”
You will never go unpunished because you can only fool men but you can never fool God.
Do not say nobody told you because even as you read this message today, God has used me to warn you before it becomes too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
