SICKNESS IN OLD AGE IS NOT NORMAL
Galatians 3:13 (AMPC)
“Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified)”
Dear people of God, sickness in old age is not a normal thing as many people think. In fact, sickness at any age is not normal as many ignorant folks believe.
Sickness that makes someone die is also not normal.
In fact, there are people who boast about a history of sickness in their family lineage and they inadvertently prophesy sickness into their lives and family lineage because they don’t realize the power of the tongue – Proverbs 18:21.
The Bible makes us understand that sickness is a curse of the law for sin as stated in Deuteronomy 28:61, “Also every sickness and every affliction which is not written in this Book of the Law the Lord will bring upon you until you are destroyed.”
This Scripture was God’s pronouncement upon any one who disobeyed His Divine law as given by Moses His servant to the Israelites.
However, let us see what the Word of God says in Galatians 3:13, “Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified)”
What this means is that when the Lord Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary for all mankind, He redeemed us from the curse of the law.
Since sin is a curse of the law, then Christ redeemed us from sin and its negative spiritual and physical consequences. Also, since sickness is a curse of the law, Christ also redeemed us from ALL sicknesses and diseases by whatever name.
Why then do Christians still fall sick even when Christ has redeemed us from sickness, a curse of the law? It is because Christians who fall sick fail to appropriate and claim their right in Christ as far as sickness is concerned.
Let me give an example to buttress this point.
There are some organizations that provide full medical insurance for their staff and such staff can visit hospitals to receive treatment when they are ill.
What if a staff does not read the organization’s policy and so is unaware of the full medical insurance, he or she would not be able to make a claim on the medical insurance and so would spend his or her personal funds to treat sicknesses when they come.
It is not the company’s fault that the staff has failed to read the policy handbook to know what is his or her right.
Additionally, where the staff reads the policy, is aware of this benefit and still refuses to make a claim on it, then he would continue to use his personal funds to treat sicknesses to his own financial detriment.
So it is with a Christian who fails to make a claim of his right in Christ for the simple fact that he is unaware of the TRUTH that Christ has redeemed us from every curse of the law and sickness is a curse of the law and so Christ has redeemed us from sicknesses and diseases.
By the grace of God, I always take time to teach people about this Truth of God’s Word whenever the opportunity presents itself and only very few are still able to grasp and appropriate it for themselves.
Now, can such person turn round to blame God and say God has allowed him to fall sick? No, he cannot because he has failed to study or even understand God’s Word to see his rights in Christ and where he is even aware, he has failed to appropriate that right and so he continues to fall sick, and when he is old, he still says sickness comes with old age.
Dear friend, stop today with boasting or making wrong and ignorant comments about sicknesses and diseases as being a normal part of life because it is not. The Bible says Jesus has taken away all sicknesses and diseases forever when He died on the Cross for our sins.
By His Stripes, ye WERE healed – 1 Peter 2:24b.
Now, I must also make it clear that only those who believe in Christ and accept Him as their Saviour and Lord can benefit from this great blessing of excellent health till one leaves this world.
Does it mean God is partial and only wants Christians to benefit? The answer is no, God is not partial.
God has made this information available in His Word in the Holy Bible to every human being but God has said only a Christian, a follower of Christ who believes and is obedient to His commands can benefit from this blessing.
The common sense thing to do is for you reading this, dear friend, if you are not yet a Christian, to simply believe and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Messiah and you automatically qualify for this great benefit.
You must then claim this right in Christ in His Name, the Name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names.
Even if you or someone you know has stage 4 or terminal cancer or Ebola or HIV or AIDs or any other terminal sickness or disease, the benefit in Christ Jesus I have mentioned above in previous paragraphs would accrue to you once you do as I have advised here.
This should tell you that God loves you so much and it is only Jesus Christ that can save and heal. It is only Jesus Christ that is the Way to God and the Way to Heaven.
So what are you waiting for?
