WHY YOU MUST PRAY (2)
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (AMPC)
“FIRST OF all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,
2 For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.
3 For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior,
4 Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.
Dear people of God, in the first part of the post under this title few days ago, we saw how it is that Christians must pray if God is to respond and act on our behalf on this earth.
We also saw that the necessity for prayer is borne out of the fact that where no prayer is made, as a result of Adam our first parent having lost his authority over this earth, satan or the devil, the god of this age, is able to carry on his mischief unhindered and cause untold havoc to mankind.
We saw from that post that the Lord Jesus had regained that authority on this earth when he came and died for our sins and then ceded the authority over this earth to Christians (Luke 10:19) and the Lord can only act on this earth through Christians when they pray to Him because He cannot violate His Word as a Righteous and Just Father.
Drawing from these lessons, we can see why as today’s lead Holy Bible text tells us, we ought to always pray for all mankind, and for those in positions of political and ecclesiastical authority.
It is therefore sad to note here that as a result of ignorance of this simple Truth, many Christians who should pray rather spend such precious time castigating their nation’s leaders on social media.
As a result of this ignorance, satan spiritually influences the unsaved leaders to take wrong decisions and satan also instigates the unsaved citizens of the nation to cause trouble that happens physically!!
How sad!!
Let us examine a Scripture in Proverbs 21:1 (AMPC), “THE KING'S heart is in the hand of the Lord, as are the watercourses; He turns it whichever way He wills.”
This Scripture says God Almighty and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has control over the heart of a king or a nation’s leader. God can turn the leader’s heart whichever way He wills.
However, a trigger for this MUST come by way of petition in prayer to God by His children, the Christians.
We see a typical example of this in the Bible in the Book of Esther where Haman, one of the Medo-Persian king Ahasuerus’ close advisers sought to destroy the Jewish race because of his hatred for one man, Mordecai who refused to bow to him.
The Jews went into a 3-day fast and prayer session seeking God’s face to intervene in the matter and God intervened in their favour, the king took a right decision and Haman the enemy was executed at the gallows he himself built!
Dear friend, prayer is the way God ordained for man as His child to communicate with Him (God) as our Father.
Just as we relate and discuss with our earthly fathers, so we should relate reverentially with the God Who created us and the entire universe.
Do you joke with prayer as a Christian? Are there days you believe you are so tired and then make excuse and refuse to pray to thank God for all He has done for you and your family?
You need to repent today and now, sincerely, and return to God before it is too late for you.
It is to your own advantage that you should pray because that is the way God would intervene miraculously in your every situation.
If you have also had the habit of raining curses on your nation’s political or ecclesiastical leaders, you now know today that that action works against the country and against you by giving satan the edge over the decisions taken in the country that affects everyone politically and economically.
As a Christian or Believer in Christ, you have authority over any and all devices of the devil trying to work against the nation’s leaders and when you pray, God would respond to ameliorate the situation.
Just go back to the lead Bible passage above and follow this exact pattern of prayer daily.
In prayer, always remember to thank God and worship Him. It is a great thing to serve the Lord and worship Him in thanksgiving for all He has done for us.
Even though our prayers of thanksgiving add nothing to God’s established greatness, praise to God elicits great miracles from Him because of His unfathomable love for all mankind.
So great is God’s love for mankind that He gave His only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ as a propitiation for the sins of all mankind – John 3:16.
Whoever believes in God MUST believe this message of Repentance and Salvation found only in the Lord Jesus Christ and nowhere else and no one else.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word this day, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Merciful Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
