SEEK FIRST GOD’S KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (3)

Matthew 6:31-33 (AMPC)

“Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, what are we going to have to eat? or, what are we going to have to drink? or, what are we going to have to wear?

 

32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.

 

33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.”

 

Dear people of God, we are still looking at the command of seeking FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness as a precondition to receiving God’s blessings.

 

Today, we will look at the law of obedience as a precondition of seeking FIRST God’s kingdom and His righteousness.

 

Obedience is defined as compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another's authority.

 

We can therefore see that obedience to God’s commandments is non-negotiable because it reflects submission to God’s authority and we know that God can never lead anyone astray because He is perfect.

 

It was disobedience to God’s commandment by our first parents Adam and Eve that brought sin, death and all the troubles this current world is experiencing. And everyone can see the untold hardship that majority of people are experiencing as a result of what our first parents did.

 

In fact, the issue of obedience to God’s command is so serious that God spoke through the Prophet Samuel to Saul, Israel’s first king as recorded in 1 Samuel 15:22, “Samuel said, Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

 

It was also disobedience to God’s commands that caused Saul his kingdom after which God gave it to David, Israel’s second king.

 

Dear friend, it is God Who has commanded us to obey His voice without question because it is for our own good.

 

When you obey God as a precondition of seeking FIRST His kingdom and righteousness, blessings must flow from God to the individual because of the honour he or she has given the Lord.

 

How would one know which of God’s laws to obey? It is what is clearly stated in God’s Word in the Holy Bible that we are to study, believe, meditate upon and obey. The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 30:14, “But the Word is very near you, in your mouth and in your mind and in your heart, so that you can do it.”

 

It is not a difficult thing. All it takes is a will to love and obey a loving God Who loves us beyond our imagination.

 

Even with the difficulties majority of people experience in the world today, those who obey God always have a palliative offered to them by God and this is why obedience to God’s commands is non-negotiable.

 

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done. GOD CANNOT VIOLATE HIS WORD

  Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What this statement from God means is that there is nothing He has said in His Word that He will fail to perform.
