SEEK FIRST GOD’S KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (2)

Matthew 6:31-33 (AMPC)

“Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, what are we going to have to eat? or, what are we going to have to drink? or, what are we going to have to wear?

 

32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.

 

33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.”

 

Dear people of God, in the first part of this post, we looked at the fact that majority of humans and indeed many Christians fail to receive God’s blessings because they have failed to obey God’s condition precedent, which is to seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Today, we will look at one of the conditions to seek as a precedent to receiving God’s blessings.

 

I will aptly name it the Law of Repentance and Salvation.

 

By Repentance, I mean having godly sorrow for sin. It means sincere regret or remorse. This is the very first step towards seeking FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

 

When you repent, you are filled with genuine remorse for a past life of wrongdoing and you make a conscious decision to stop forthwith such life and determine never to go back into it again.

 

To have sincere remorse or regret or repentance means you are fed up with wrongdoing and you have come to realize that there is nothing to gain from such life.

 

The second and equally important step of seeking God’s kingdom FIRST is Salvation. It means preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss.

 

For our purpose here, Salvation means deliverance from sin and its consequences, brought about by faith in Christ.

 

Jesus Christ, Who is God, came into this world as a human some 2,023 years ago for the sole purpose of dying for the sins of mankind and reconciling mankind back to God spiritually.

 

This event was necessary because mankind through our first parents Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s commands through the devil’s deceit by eating the fruit of the tree in the Garden of Eden that God had forbade them from eating.

 

This act of disobedience disconnected them spiritually from God, brought sin and death into the world and sentenced them to an eternal damnation when they died.

 

Now, because all human beings are descendants of Adam and Eve, that fallen nature was passed to every one of us as a consequence.

 

Jesus came to reverse this consequence of sin, death and eternal damnation as I stated a little earlier above and He achieved this by His sacrificial death on the Cross of Calvary in AD34.

 

Jesus did this because He loves all humans and so it is those who believe and accept this message of Repentance and Salvation found only in Christ that would benefit from the spiritual reconciliation back to God and are freed from the eternal consequences of sin when they die. This is what is called Salvation by faith in Christ.

 

These are the people who are seeking FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness and are on their way to receiving God’s blessings EFFORTLESSLY.

 

Without Repentance, there cannot be Salvation. Without faith in Christ, no human being can obtain Salvation because Salvation is found only in Christ Jesus the Messiah, the Redeemer.

 

Dear friend, if you are yet to attain this beautiful gift of God of Repentance and Salvation found only in Christ, I invite you today to come and receive it now, for tomorrow or later may be too late.

 

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.

HOW DO YOU CONTROL VIOLENCE IN PEOPLE?

Hebrews 12:14 (AMPC)  “ Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration  and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.”   Dear people of God, I read sometime in December 2019 ago of a police inspector in Nigeria who shot and killed his colleague, a corporal, and the same shot injured another colleague, a deputy Superintendent of police after which the police inspector took his own life.   What could have led to such violence?   I also read of another unfortunate story of a lady killed December 25, 2019, Christmas Day, by her husband who had beaten her to a coma and then ran away after discovering what he had done.   Psalm 89:34  “My covenant I will not violate, nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.” Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text in Psalm 89:34 is a profound statement by God Almighty and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
