HOW COME SOME NON-CHRISTIANS ARE WEALTHY BUT DO NOT PAY TITHE?

 Jeremiah 44:16-18 (AMPC)

“As for the Word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not listen to or obey you.

17 But we will certainly perform every word of the vows we have made: to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her as we have done–we and our fathers, our kings and our princes–in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food and were well off and prosperous and saw no evil.

18 But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been consumed by the sword and by famine.”

Dear people of God, sometimes I receive this question that is the topic of today’s post from some Christians when we are discussing the issue of tithing.

I usually receive this question from Christians who do not want to pay tithes with the claim that tithing is an Old Testament practice.

I got the same question few days ago from a Christian with whom we were sharing the Gospel.

He made reference to one of the wealthiest men in the world that was wealthy even though he was not a Christian and was not paying tithe.

I agreed with him and I also mentioned to him another very wealthy individual whom we both know is not a Christian and could therefore not be paying tithe.

I then asked him a question on who was the cause of poverty between God and satan and he answered correctly when he said satan.

At this point, in case you don’t believe satan is the cause of poverty, I want you to read the Holy Bible Book of Job Chapter 1 so that you can know for sure that satan is the cause of poverty.

I then asked my Christian friend who asked the question that when a person becomes a Christian by repenting and confessing sin, accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as Messiah, in whose camp does the person belong, and he said the person moves from satan’s camp into God’s camp.

I then explained to my friend that satan knows that only a Christian is qualified to enter heaven because a Christian is a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and Jesus said He (Jesus) is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and that no human can come to God except through Him. – John 14:6.

With this understanding, it is evident that satan would do all in his power to discourage the Christian to doubt and to sin against God and lose the opportunity to enter heaven.

And three major ways satan does this is by attacking the Christian’s health through sickness, the Christian’s finances through poverty and afflicting him spiritually.

Since the non-Christian has no chance of entering heaven except he or she becomes born again through Christ and lives in strict obedience to Christ’s commands, such person is already in satan’s camp so satan would hardly attack the wealthy non-Christian’s finances.

In Job’s case, you can see that satan attacked Job’s wealth because he (satan) knew that Job was perfect, upright, feared God and eschewed evil, attributes that qualified Job to enter heaven because there was no Christianity at the time.

This is also why after afflicting Job, the devil used Job’s wife to encourage Job to curse God and die (Job 2:9) because satan knew that if Job did, that he (satan) had a right to strike Job dead and Job would enter an eternal damnation in HELL!!

But Job refused to curse God – Job 2:10.

Dear friend, tithing is a necessary condition for a Christian to show love to God as an obedient child and do recall the Lord Himself says He would rebuke the devourer (satan) for those who pay tithes – Malachi 3:10-12.

So it means when a Christian fails to pay tithe, God would not rebuke the devourer for such person and satan would have a field day and a legal right to attack the person’s finances.

The Christian who pays tithes contributes to the work of the Gospel that is used to minister to other lost souls to bring them from satan’s camp of darkness to God’s kingdom of light with an assurance of entry into heaven as long as the person lives in righteous obedience to God’s commands.

So satan is very pleased with Christians who fail to pay tithes and who argue against paying tithes because satan knows such people are under God’s curse in Malachi 3:9 and are therefore disqualified from entering heaven.

So now, you understand why satan does not usually bother non-Christians who prosper. You also understand why you as a Christian should never joke with tithes payment because God would rebuke the devourer, satan, for your sake and would not allow him to afflict your health or finances.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
