“I am surprised and astonished that you are so quickly turning renegade and deserting Him Who invited and called you by the grace (unmerited favor) of Christ (the Messiah) [and that you are transferring your allegiance] to a different [even an opposition] gospel.
7 Not that there is [or could be] any other [genuine Gospel], but there are [obviously] some who are troubling and disturbing and bewildering you [with a different kind of teaching which they offer as a gospel] and want to pervert and distort the Gospel of Christ (the Messiah) [into something which it absolutely is not].
8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!
9 As we said before, so I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received [from us], let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!”
Dear people of God, I personally do not listen to all pastors who preach the “gospel.” In fact, my spirit does not tolerate all kinds of preaching.
I have observed that the preachers I listen to are the ones that teach from the Holy Bible. I am inclined to listen to them because what they preach about are the things that please God.
What many Christians fail to realize is that God has made it clear in His Word that He does not change – Malachi 3:6a and Hebrews 13:8.
Secondly, God has said when we seek His kingdom and His righteousness FIRST above all else, then He (God) would provide all our material needs – Matthew 6:33.
It is therefore strange to see a number of preachers who in their messages to their congregation focus solely on our material needs and not on seeking FIRST God’s kingdom and His righteousness.
Such preachers are preparing their congregation for a life here on earth and not on a life in heaven that should be the focus. As a result, their congregation are relaxed even when they watch, read and hear daily news of people dying.
They are not bothered about the souls of such folks but they are more concerned about the burial ceremonies and after parties to attend.
In recent times, the situation has taken a new dimension where the preachers tell their congregation that once you have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of your life, you can begin to live in sin as God no longer sees you when you sin but Christ in you.
Even though this submission sounds very silly to the ears, you find many compromised Christians readily accepting it and saying, ‘we are living under grace.’ Is Grace a license to commit sin?
Let us see what God’s Word says about Grace in Titus 2:11-12, “For the Grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind.
12 It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world,”
From this Scripture, one can see clearly that the pastors who preach grace as a licence to sin are clearly in error because God’s Word says Grace has trained us to live godly lives in this world in righteous obedience to God’s commandments in the Holy Bible.
I recently met a young man who attends a church where they are taught grace as a licence to sin. He said the first time he heard the preacher, he told himself that this man must be an anti-Christ, but guess what? The young man is not only still attending this church today, he is a rapper in the church!
A rapper in God’s church? How can the Spirit of God be in such place? From my conversation with him, it was obvious that over time, he has come to accept the erroneous teaching in the place.
Sadly, this young man says his mum attends a church where the Truth of God’s Word is preached but he has refused to return there even when he knows the truth because he is comfortable in sin.
The proponents of grace as a licence to sin do not come out straight to say it. What they tell their congregation is that they should not live a broken life of self-condemnation for their past sins or future sins because Christ has paid it all and has forgiven us unconditionally.
The error in this teaching is telling the congregation that Christ has also paid for our future sins and then leaving it at that.
For a person that allows his or her flesh to rule over the spirit, it becomes easy to begin to commit sins and not feel guilty, after all, Christ has paid for it.
Now, what does the Bible says about this? Let us examine God’s Word in Romans 8:1 (AMPC), “THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.”
Again, let us examine Romans 8:13, “13 For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.”
Now, let me ask you dear friend, does the Spirit of God, a Holy Spirit as we know, tell you to fornicate, commit adultery, dress immorally, tell lies, cheat people, fight, quarrel, keep malice, steal, abuse, gossip, etc?
Your response to this question will tell you whether or not God’s Spirit dwells in you. I can tell you for free that it is your flesh that makes you commit such ungodly acts and God’s Word says those who live according to the dictates of their flesh will surely die.
Since every human born into this world is destined to die, this death from obeying the dictates of the flesh is referring to another kind of death, which is eternal damnation in HELL.
So pastor and member of the congregation, I sincerely urge you to stop preaching grace as a licence to sin or accepting that false doctrine because nobody who preaches or accepts such teaching would ever enter heaven.
It is God’s Word that says so and God’s Word is final.
Preachers of the Gospel must immediately begin to preach salvation, refraining from habitual sin, righteousness, holiness, eternity, heaven, hell, etc and members of the congregations would do well to immediately leave the churches where they have been deceived on an erroneous doctrine and join a church that preaches the Truth of God’s Word.
Do not say nobody told you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Unchanging and Righteous Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
