5 For what we preach is not ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves [merely] as your servants (slaves) for Jesus' sake.”
Dear people of God, in the first part of the post on this topic, we were able to establish that the calamities and atrocities of this world are caused indirectly and directly by satan and demonic forces influencing humans.
We were able to establish that Adam, our first parent, was the god of this world as ordained by God Almighty at creation but Adam lost his status to satan as a result of disobedience to God’s commandments.
Since then, satan has held sway as the god of this age. We can see satan’s audacity when he tempted the Lord Jesus Christ as a human being in this world as recorded in Matthew 4:8-10, “Again, the devil took Him (Jesus Christ) up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory (the splendour, magnificence, pre-eminence, and excellence) of them.
9 And he said to Him, These things, all taken together, I will give You, if You will prostrate Yourself before me and do homage and worship me.
10 Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it has been written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve.”
By his action, satan was asserting himself as the god of this age.
However, it is pertinent to note that satan’s sway and demonic influence can only affect unsaved people, that is, non-Christians.
Unless a Christian permits satan through sin, ignorance of his or her rights in Christ or non-action in enforcing his or her rights in Christ, satan cannot hold him or her hostage.
It is very important for Christians to understand this point.
I state so because a lot of times, Christians erroneously attribute the bad happenings in their lives to God and not to satan who has caused it.
A Christian is a god of this world through Christ Jesus, a privilege no other religious group by whatever name enjoys.
It is only the Christian that can give a command in the Name of Jesus Christ to satan and demonic forces and they MUST obey. You do not have to scream at them because the power and authority over satan and his agents lies in the Name of Jesus Christ.
At the mention of the Name Jesus, demonic forces MUST bow, whether in the sky, on earth or under the earth. It is God Almighty Who has made it so and nothing and no one can change it.
In essence, there is unlimited power in the Name of Jesus Christ and once mentioned against any situation, that situation must give way.
This is why a Christian should never be sick, poor or afflicted by satan. God’s Word tells us clearly that we as Christians have been delivered from the control and dominion of darkness and we have been transferred into God’s Kingdom of light – Colossians 1:13-14 (AMPC).
Dear friend, isn’t this a great thing God has done for us? Glory be to His Holy Name forever and ever in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Why then would anyone in his right senses not want to be a Christian when that is the only assurance he or she can get against demonic forces in this world? Why risk premature death through sickness, accident or voodoo, poverty, affliction and untold hardships satan places on unsaved folks?
Just in case you have forgotten, I have earlier mentioned that satan can hold same influence over Christians if they either (1) commit sin or (2) are ignorant of their rights in Christ and (3) fail to exercise their rights in Christ over satan.
This is why you would find some Christians sick, struggling with poverty in their lives and experiencing spiritual attacks from demonic forces.
It is not God who has placed them in that situation. If only they would study, believe, meditate and action God’s Word by right and constant confession and action, they would overcome any untoward situation in their lives.
As for the unsaved individual, he has no such rights whatsoever and so satan holds sway over him or her as the god of this age and there is nothing the person can do about it, NOT UNTIL HE BECOMES A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN.
On the other hand, once you become a born again Christian, you become a god of this world through Christ Jesus and can prevent demonic forces from holding you hostage in any area of your life just by exercising your God-given rights in the Name of Jesus.
