28 But I say to you that everyone who so much as looks at a woman with evil desire for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
Dear people of God, who is a fornicator and who is an adulterer?
A fornicator is an unmarried person who engages in intimate relations with someone to whom he or she is not married.
An adulterer is a married person having intimate relations with someone to whom he or she is not married.
However, the Lord Jesus Christ takes it a notch higher in warning humans that even a lustful look at another person amounts to fornication or adultery.
What the Lord is saying here is that the person’s heart is already defiled by lust and lustful thoughts even when the physical act is not yet carried out.
There are people who believe every man must be engaged in at least one of 3 sinful acts namely, (1) womanizing (2) alcoholism or (3) cigarette smoking.
For me, I can say by the grace of God I am not involved in any of these sinful habits because they are destructive.
The fornicator and adulterer are on a mission that would CERTAINLY end in self-destruction even when they erroneously believe they are having a nice time.
As the Word of God says, it is like carrying fire on one’s clothes or walking on hot coals and thinking it would not burn you – Proverbs 6:24-29.
Nowadays, many people in the society feel pre-marital intimacy is required especially to “test” the man’s efficacy or the woman’s ability to conceive. You even find parents, relatives and close friends actively encouraging people to engage in immorality.
Some, especially bachelors, even give their homes to their unmarried friends for use as brothels to engage in despicable acts with people they are not married to.
Parents encourage their children who are PROPERLY married to look outside to commit adultery when no child has come from the legal union.
What is important to them is the continuity of the family name; whether or not it is offensive to God is immaterial.
To show you the extent to which God detests the practice of having children out of wedlock, see what the Holy Bible says in Deuteronomy 23:2, “A person begotten out of wedlock shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall his descendants not enter into the congregation of the Lord.”
If God has rejected the INNOCENT child produced as a result of fornication and adultery, how do you think He views the persons whose sinful act brought that innocent child into this world?
Dear friend, do you know why people engage in such despicable acts as adultery and fornication? It is because the Spirit of God does not reside in them.
It is because they are yet to know God. It is because the Word of God has not taken root in them. And that is exactly the situation where satan wants every human to be.
It is only the Word of God rooted in one’s heart that contains the power to save the person’s soul – James 1:21.
I want to tell you today that it is never too late to retrace your paths to Jesus Christ from the destructive road of fornication and adultery.
All you have to do is come to your senses, realize the grave danger ahead, realize your inevitable need for Jesus Christ to come into your life, repent of sin, confess and forsake sin, accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and promise Jesus to obey His commandments in the Holy Bible to make Him Lord of your life.
Then go into the Word of God in the Holy Bible through daily study and meditation. Ask God to open your eyes of understanding so He can minister to your human spirit and guide you always.
Put the Word of God FIRST in every situation of your life no matter how challenging.
Only then would you appreciate God for saving you and taking you out of the eternal damnation that awaits fornicators and adulterers.
