UNFORGIVENESS AND PRAYING FOR THE ENEMIES TO DIE

Luke 6:27-29 (NKJV)
“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. 29 To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.

Dear people of God, the Gospel according to Luke chapter 6:20-49 contains some of the most demanding instructions to Christians.

However, as far as God is concerned, He has spoken, His Word is forever settled in heaven and His Word would be used to judge every one including Christians.

For many years, I have often wondered why Christians pray for their human enemies to die even when the Lord Jesus Christ and the entire New Testament messages do not contain a single verse instructing Christians to pray this way.

This practice of praying for the enemies to die is so common place now especially amongst African Christians.

Even when I knew within me that disobeying God’s instruction was a sin, I just wondered why Christians fail to see that praying contrary to Scriptures in asking one’s human enemies to die is disobedience to God’s instruction and a sin.

It was recently God made me to understand why. The reason many Christians especially in Africa pray ignorantly and sinfully in such manner asking for their enemies to die is because they DO NOT KNOW WHO THEY ARE IN CHRIST.

A second reason these Christians pray this way is because THEY ARE AFRAID OF EVIL PEOPLE and so they want such evil people to die first before they have the chance to harm them (Christians).

This is why they pray for their evil arrows to return to them and for them to die.

Dear friend, let me make you understand a very simple point. See, Christ has already given you all authority IN HIS NAME over ALL (NOT SOME OF) THE POWERS OF THE DEVIL AND HIS AGENTS – Luke 10:19.

As long as you cannot understand and believe this simple revelation knowledge, you will always fail to exercise your God-given authority over the devil and the devil would always take advantage of you by afflicting you.

All you need do is rebuke IN THE NAME OF JESUS whatever foul spirit is causing trouble and such foul spirit MUST (NOT OPTIONAL) give way and flee.

Let me ask you now, can a Christian who prays for his human enemies to die ever have a spirit of forgiveness? The simple answer is NO because not only does such Christian suspect every person, but anyone who hurts him is an enemy and must die.

Dear friend, many Christians and their teachers who ask them to pray for their human enemies to die are offending God and urgently need to repent before they die and enter eternal damnation!

Before you get excited and try to justify praying in error, read again today’s lead text above and see the Words of Jesus Christ. You cannot argue against God’s Word.

If you are praying for your human enemies to die, you have a spirit of unforgiveness and this is a sin against God because God has said if you do not forgive those who offend you, then, He, God, would also not forgive your own offenses against Him.

Why do you want to send yourself to an eternal damnation because of someone over whom Christ has already given you all authority? Such person can only harm you when you fail to know and exercise your authority in the Name of Jesus.

If you have been praying for your human enemies to die, then you need to repent sincerely and ask God to forgive you for your disobedience of His commands in the Holy Bible as Jesus has told us in today’s lead Holy Bible text above.

What you are called to do as a Christian is to preach the Gospel to the evil person and God’s Holy Spirit would convict him or her to repent and come to Christ – Ezekiel 3:17-19; Mark 16:15-16.

I will continue to advise that you study your Bible, meditate on it and do what it says because only then can you discover who you are in Christ.

Listen to a preacher of the Gospel whose preaching is consistent with the Words of the Holy Bible because only then would you not be misled into sin and error.

Remember, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God – Romans 10:17.

When you know who you are in Christ, you would not be afraid of people or situations but only trust in God Who has given Christians all things in Christ – Ephesians 1:3.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
