1 THEN JESUS called together the Twelve [apostles] and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases,
2 And He sent them out to announce and preach the kingdom of God and to bring healing.
6 And departing, they went about from village to village, preaching the Gospel and restoring the afflicted to health everywhere.
Dear people of God, in the first part of the post on this topic, we saw how the Lord Jesus Christ commanded Christians to respond with love to the offences their human enemies commit against them.
We saw how praying for your human enemies to die as a Christian is clearly against Christ’s commandments and a sin Christians commit without realizing the gravity of their actions.
We saw that what makes Christians to pray for their human enemies to die is because they are either unaware of their God-given rights IN CHRIST over ALL powers of the enemy OR they are afraid of their human enemies who visibly harm others spiritually.
We saw that Christians are called to preach the Gospel to lost souls and not to pray for their destruction even if they want to attack us spiritually.
We saw also that a person who has the spirit of unforgiveness is one comfortable with praying for his human enemies to die and of course, anyone who has the spirit of unforgiveness will enter eternal damnation at the end of his stay here on earth.
In today’s lead text, again we see the Lord Jesus Christ giving His apostles power and authority over ALL demons and to cure diseases.
We also see the Lord Jesus Christ sending His Apostles to go preach the Gospel and bring healing, and the Apostles were able to complete this task because they obeyed the Lord’s command.
Now, there are Christian folks, even preachers today who claim that the power God gave over demons and for healing ended with the Apostles.
Anyone who holds this erroneous belief cannot have faith to manifest God’s power and as a result, demons would surely afflict such person and even kill him because of his ignorance and not because God’s power and authority given to Christians has stopped working.
This is why many Christians today suffer ailments, run to the hospital to spend their hard earned income and some even die without recovery.
When they die from sickness, another group of Christians would say it is the Lord Who has called the person home, whereas it was satan who took the Christian home before his or her time.
Dear friend, without faith we cannot please God or manifest the power He has given to us Christians – Hebrews 11:6; Luke 10:19. Without faith, you also cannot enjoy the immense benefits God has covenanted with those who are in Christ Jesus as His children – John 1:12; Galatians 3:29; Ephesians 1:3.
Some Christians are always amazed whenever I tell them I cannot die from sickness. However, I am quick to add that I make this bold statement not out of boasting but because it is consistent with what God has said in His Word concerning me as His child – Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24.
God has also told me that He has NOT given me a spirit of fear (from satan of course) but a Spirit of courage, love and of a sound mind – 2 Timothy 1:7.
As a result, I do not have to live in fear of any demon or human being because that would open the door for satan to enter my life to afflict me. Take special note of this statement because it is one reason many Christians come under spiritual attack.
I also know that rather than hate anyone who makes himself or herself my enemy, I would preach the Gospel to such person knowing he or she cannot harm me spiritually or even physically because Christ has given me authority over the foul spirit controlling the person.
I also realize from God’s Word that I should pursue peace with all humans and holiness without which I would never see the Lord – Hebrews 12:14.
As a result of the revelation knowledge of my rights in Christ that God has given me, why should I ever want to pray for someone to die? Why would I hold anyone in unforgiveness? Why would I ever be afraid of a human being like me?
Dear friend, once again, I call you to study God’s Word to know your rights as a Christian, claim them and action them in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thereafter, when you see one miracle after another in your life as a result of your exercising your rights in Christ, go and preach the Gospel to others who are yet to know Jesus Christ so they can come out of sin and come to Christ Who ALONE can save and is indeed our Saviour, Messiah and Lord.
When you preach the Gospel and people believe and come to Jesus Christ, miracles must follow from God because He has said so – Mark 16:15-18.
