OF CHURCH DOCTRINES AND SERMONS

1 Corinthians 14:33 (AMPC)
“For He [Who is the source of their prophesying] is not a God of confusion and disorder but of peace and order. As [is the practice] in all the churches of the saints (God's people),”
 
Dear people of God, Christianity as defined in Wikipedia is “an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Its adherents, known as Christians, believe that Jesus is the Christ, whose coming as the Messiah was prophesied in the Hebrew Bible, called the Old Testament in Christianity, and chronicled in the New Testament.”
 
What is common to all Christians is the Person of the Lord Christ Jesus.
 
However, amongst the Christians, we find denominations or distinct religious bodies within Christianity whose members hold on to ideas or teachings that are not accepted by other Church denominations.
 
For instance, whilst some say you can reach Jesus Christ through Mary His earthly mother, some say Jesus is the Son of God but not God. Some say there is no Trinity (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit).
 
Some claim that there is no HELL and some say there is a HELL but that there is also a place called Purgatory where dead people would enter to suffer for a while as a purification process before entering heaven because they died with sins that did not qualify them to enter HELL.
 
Another group claim it is only a Bishop that is excluded from marrying more than one woman as wife and that as long as one is not a Bishop, he can marry more than one woman as wife.
 
Some do not believe in celebrating birthdays while some do not believe in celebrating Christmas. Some believe in paying tithes while some say paying of tithes is an Old Testament practice that has been done away with under the New Testament where Christianity is practised.
 
Some believe you can come to church as a woman wearing trousers and without covering your hair while some teach that you cannot wear trousers as a woman and that you must cover your hair as a woman when coming to church.
 
Some claim that it is when you catch your spouse in adultery that you are allowed to divorce and re-marry while some say you cannot divorce under any circumstance.
 
There is another group that claims that once a person professes and accepts Jesus Christ as Messiah, such person can continue to live a life of sin afterwards because God sees Jesus who paid the price for our sins and not the person still sinning whenever God looks at him or her.
 
What is interesting here is that adherents of these different doctrines search chapters of the Holy Bible and present what they consider proof of their teachings.
 
Dear friend, in all these different doctrines, the Truth of God’s Word remains. I have taken time to list as many as I can recollect for the reader of this message to see and understand that majority of these strange doctrines are creations of humans because God is NOT an Author of confusion as today’s lead Holy Bible text states above.
 
The truth is, God cannot be saying different things to the same set of people known as Christians because that would violate His Word above.
 
So how can a Christian know what is Truth of God’s Word and what is falsehood?
 
Jesus Christ Himself answers this question in Matthew 7:7-11, “Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.
 
8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.
 
9 Or what man is there of you, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will hand him a stone?
 
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent?
 
11 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!”
 
There are some Christians who believe that Jesus is only talking about material things here but when you read verses before and after these ones I just quoted, you would realize that it is spiritual things the Lord is referring to.
 
Dear friend, God’s Word has only one interpretation and one meaning because God does not want anyone to misquote or misunderstand Him.
 
It is therefore imperative that Christians take time to study God’s Word in the Holy bible, meditate on it, pray and ask God to reveal His Truth on any matter whatsoever that is not clear.
 
Do not make any assumptions based on what you have been taught in your local assembly or church denomination because everyone, both the leader and the led have a responsibility before God to Whom we must all account for our teachings, statements and beliefs.
 
A Word is enough for the wise.
