“I (Jesus Christ) know your [record of] works and what you are doing; you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot!
16 So, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of My mouth!
17 For you say, I am rich; I have prospered and grown wealthy, and I am in need of nothing; and you do not realize and understand that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. [Hos. 12:8.]
18 Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be [truly] wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes, that you may see.
19 Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude]. [Prov. 3:12.]”
Dear people of God, anyone who is not yet a born again Christian child of God is under the influence of the devil whether he believes or understands it or not – 2 Corinthians 4:4; 1 John 5:19.
This is why the things that God forbids Christians to do appear right in such person’s eyes. Such an individual takes alcohol, listens to sensual music, watches pornography, reads immoral literature, tells lies at will, cheats others, harbours unforgiveness, malice, hatred, envy, strife in the heart, dresses immorally, steals from the place of work or business, and so on and so forth.
However, the person who becomes born again and baptized into Christ MUST make a commitment not to engage in these abominable acts that are offensive to God.
You cannot claim to be a Christian and still commit such acts. Today’s message from the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible text above shows clearly what Jesus requires.
Jesus says He reproves, convicts and corrects those He loves dearly and tenderly.
Why does Jesus do this?
It is because there is only one acceptable standard of behaviour for a Christian, and the standard is documented in the Holy Bible.
In fact, there is ONLY ONE acceptable standard of behaviour for all human beings as far as God is concerned, and this again, is documented in the Holy Bible.
The excuse some Christians give that they are struggling with a particular sin is because they have not yet understood the cost of discipleship of Jesus Christ our Lord.
The way to understand it is to go into the Perfect Law of Liberty, the infallible Word of God in the Holy Bible to study, meditate, obey and do what it says.
Since the Word is Spirit and it is Life, then that Spirit and Life would enter into the person who takes a careful study of the Word, obeys and acts on it. The Holy Spirit would then use the Word as Jesus says to reprove, convict and correct the person whenever he or she goes astray.
There is simply no middle ground.
You are either for Jesus Christ or for the devil whether you know it or not. Every human being here on earth needs to make that decision by FREE WILL while alive because once you cross over to the world of the dead, then the Justice of God takes over and mercy ends.
