15 Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others' joy], and weep with those who weep [sharing others' grief].
16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty (snobbish, high-minded, exclusive), but readily adjust yourself to [people, things] and give yourselves to humble tasks. Never overestimate yourself or be wise in your own conceits. [Prov. 3:7.]
17 Repay no one evil for evil, but take thought for what is honest and proper and noble [aiming to be above reproach] in the sight of everyone. [Prov. 20:22.]”
Dear people of God, no doubt everyone encounters that one person you would feel highly offended at over a severe hurt the person has inflicted on you.
This is the reason people react to avenge a hurt caused them. This is why spouses quarrel and go their separate ways.
This is why some go as far as planning to assassinate a perceived enemy.
This is why some pray for their human enemies to die or to be afflicted severely.
One day in late January 2020, I watched a video of someone shedding tears whilst reading the heart-rending written testimony of a lady who was abducted along with her husband and nine-year old daughter somewhere in South West Nigeria by some Fulani men, taken into the bush where they were subjected to inhumane treatment by a well organized crime ring.
The family was given 4 options to either (1) rape the man or (2) rape the woman or (3) rape their 9-year old daughter or (4) rape all 3 of them.
Even when the man, a Muslim, told his assailants that Islam does not permit such things, he was shut up and asked what he knows about Islam.
The lady then made herself the sacrificial lamb and was subjected to this torture and rape for 6 whole days!!
The couple had since left Nigeria and vowed never to return and to be buried outside the shores of Nigeria upon their demise.
How do you begin to forgive such beasts in human skin?
No doubt, anyone with a human heart who reads this message would be utterly distressed and some would even rain curses on the assailants of that family and some would pray for their death through violence.
No matter how vindicating these reactions may appear, I want to tell you today that the Spirit of God can never permit anyone to do such things against a fellow human being.
Let me make it clear, the Spirit of God and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ does not permit anyone to curse or pray for the death of another human no matter what that person has done to you.
Just take a look again at the verses of today’s lead Holy Bible text above to understand what I am saying here.
Would you say God is unjust because He knows and saw what happened to the family and did nothing?
God is not unjust and there is no injustice with Him because God is love and God is perfect. Yes, God saw what happened and continues to see the ungodly treatment human beings mete out to fellow humans.
It is the spirit of demons, the one known in the Bible as the “rulers of the darkness of this world (Ephesians 6:12)” operating in unsaved people that drive those such as the assailants to do what they do without caring a hoot about it.
God is patient with all such demon infested people because He knows their end, which is eternal damnation if they die without repenting.
The Spirit of God is what drives Christians to live in love, peace and harmony with everyone.
Without this Spirit of God, it is impossible to live a righteous life.
It is this same Spirit of God that drives Christians to pray for their human enemies, to forgive their assailants, to bless those who persecute them and to share the Gospel of Christ with lost souls in need of Salvation.
Anyone who accepts the Gospel of Jesus Christ that grants Salvation (freedom from sin, control and dominion of demons) and allows God’s Spirit to operate in him or her has the Christian spirit.
It would show in his or her character.
God’s Spirit is one and is a Spirit of perfect peace and love. Only a Christian can have this Spirit having repented (change of mind from sinful lifestyle), accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and is living in strict obedience to God’s commands in the Holy Bible.
When you genuinely seek the Christian spirit, God would always respond to give it to you.
