“And show your own self in all respects to be a pattern and a model of good deeds and works, teaching what is unadulterated, showing gravity [having the strictest regard for truth and purity of motive], with dignity and seriousness.
8 And let your instruction be sound and fit and wise and wholesome, vigorous and irrefutable and above censure, so that the opponent may be put to shame, finding nothing discrediting or evil to say about us.”
Dear people of God, whenever and wherever a Believer in Jesus Christ stands to minister to others, he is acting as an ambassador of Jesus Christ.
He is representing Jesus Christ because Jesus has commanded all believers to go and preach to everyone the Gospel or Good News concerning Repentance and Salvation found only in Him.
Jesus Christ our Lord was a Preacher of Righteousness while He was here on earth as a human being.
There was nobody who could accuse Jesus of any wrongdoing that violated God’s laws – Hebrews 4:15.
No doubt Jesus had opposition from the Jewish Religious Authorities of the day but this opposition was borne out of envy because these Authorities felt they were losing significance to Jesus Christ in their community – Matthew 27:18.
This is why when they brought Jesus Christ before Pontius Pilate, they framed many lies against Jesus because they had nothing to accuse Him about.
As Jesus’ representatives today, every Christian Believer is expected to be above board in conduct wherever we find ourselves.
This is because the devil, demons and their human agents are always looking for avenues to bring down and discredit genuine children of God to bring shame to the Body of Christ.
Unfortunately, some Christians allow their fleshly desires to have the better part of them to control them to do the wrong things and sin against God.
A friend of mine two weeks ago sent me a video of a pastor of a popular Christian Ministry here in Nigeria who was caught in the act of attempting to sleep with a female member of his congregation in her home.
The woman set him up along with her spouse and others who then stripped the pastor naked, filmed it and threatened to spread it on social media, an act that was eventually carried out.
The pastor was seen begging, prostrating and claimed never to have done such act to which the woman responded that she could list names and take the man to the homes of other women in the area that he had committed adultery with.
Claiming not to have any sinister motive as he was accused, the pastor was asked what he was doing in another woman’s home alone and why he attempted to grab her to which he could not respond.
How unfortunate!!
Dear friend, the devil is out to discredit children of God so we must be very watchful and prayerful for ourselves and others not to fall into temptation to sin against God.
Can you imagine how the community would view this pastor who brought shame to himself, family and church? Can he still preach the Gospel and if he does, who would take him serious?
Let us learn a very serious lesson from this so that we can always witness to others concerning the Lord Jesus Christ and nobody would have a reason to accuse us of being bad ambassadors of Jesus Christ.
The way to successfully resist the devil is found in God’s Word in Ephesians 6:10-18.
We must live aboard board and tell people the Truth about sin, repentance, salvation, heaven, hell, righteousness, holiness, obedience to God’s commands in the Holy Bible and the seriousness and imminence of Jesus’ second coming to take ONLY those who are prepared for His coming.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Righteous Name, Amen.
