WHY DO YOU FEAR DEATH?
Hebrews 2:14-15 (AMPC)
“Since, therefore, [these His] children share in flesh and blood [in the physical nature of human beings], He [Himself]- Jesus Christ - in a similar manner partook of the same [nature], that by [going through] death He might bring to nought and make of no effect, him who had the power of death–that is, the devil–
15 And also that He might deliver and completely set free all those who through the [haunting] fear of death were held in bondage throughout the whole course of their lives.”
Dear people of God, in 2020 the news media was awash with unfortunate stories of people of all ethnic nationalities, ages, social and financial status, religious inclination dying of the coronavirus or covid-19 virus pandemic.
Medical and non-medical folks were daily giving advice on how to stay safe from contracting the virus because of the ease with which it is killing people every day.
As of early May 2020, a little over 20 million human beings were reported to have died of various causes since the beginning of the year 2020.
however, of this number, about 251,816 deaths had occurred from the coronavirus pandemic. You can therefore see that coronavirus was not the number one killer as many people believed then.
This number of covid-19 deaths was about 1.3% of the total deaths that year 2020 alone from different causes.
The fear of the coronavirus virus is the ease with which it is contracted.
If you ask a Christian if he or she wants to go to heaven, the answer would be a yes but if you ask if the person wants to go now through death, majority would answer no.
If you ask why not now, some would say they are not ready or they are not sure they would make it to heaven or they still have some things to accomplish here in life on earth.
But Christians know that heaven is a better place than this world of sin, pain, suffering, anxiety and crises.
Today’s lead Holy Bible text tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ had to come in human form to pass through death for the sins of mankind to make of no effect the devil who before then had the power of death.
Jesus Christ did this for us, to set completely free everyone and anyone who believes in Him as Messiah and Lord from the haunting fear of death that holds them in bondage all their lives.
Since Christ has set us completely free from the devil’s power of death and the fear of death previously holding us hostage, we have a great cause to be grateful to God and to worship and thank Him for His immense love over His children.
Christ Jesus gave us freedom from fear of both physical death and spiritual death and eternal death and an assurance of eternal life with Him once we depart this world.
Eternal life is what we should most certainly be focused on attaining and then the pains and crises in this life would matter very little to us.
One fear a number of Christians have about physical death is the fact that they are not sure of where they would go when they depart this world, one of two places, which is either HEAVEN OR HELL.
What many of them also do not understand is that God’s standards for assessing all who qualify for eternal life in heaven is the Holy Bible and not just what your pastor or priest tells you.
If what the pastor or priest says is consistent with God’s Word, please listen and obey. If what the pastor or priest is preaching to you is contrary to God’s Word, please and please take God’s Word because we are told in Proverbs 21:30 (AMPC), “There is no [human] wisdom or understanding or counsel [that can prevail] against the Lord.”
You have the personal responsibility to seek, study, to find out what God says on any matter and run with that instruction without compromise.
Dear friend, it is important for you to understand this very critical point because it would make the difference for many people when the Lord Jesus Christ comes to take His qualified people very soon in Rapture.
Even if your spiritual leader succeeds in misleading you into eternal damnation, God would not excuse you even though God would also hold your spiritual leader accountable for misleading you and others.
So you must be very careful who you listen to and what you take as your own Gospel.
If you have been closely following my messages on this blog, you would have known by now that God’s standard is not what we are seeing in today’s Churches where many are preaching a watered down make-me-feel-good Gospel.
Today, even as you read this message, God is giving you another opportunity to correct the wrongs of your lifestyle that are offensive to Him as far as His Word is concerned.
Rather than focus solely on the fear of covid-19 and other sicknesses and diseases and fear of death from these sicknesses and diseases, focus most on your relationship with Jesus Christ, Who has given you complete freedom from sin, sickness and disease, poverty, death and everything else the devil uses to hold people hostage and also hold ignorant Christians hostage as well.
Turn today to Jesus Christ and amend your ways to align with His Word in the Bible now, for tomorrow and later may be too late.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
