Dear people of God, some years ago, I had a very bad habit of mocking others without realising that I was hurting people. By God’s grace I have given up the bad habit.
One of the biggest sins many engage in is talking bad about people behind their back and mocking or castigating them in their presence.
Some women have a very nasty habit of scouting round for hurtful information concerning others and whenever they enter a quarrel with such people, they begin to release their “missile” of hurtful words from their mouth against the person with intent to cause great distress, pain and sadness.
For the menfolk, what some do is crack spiteful and cruel jokes against others and they see it as a normal way of life.
Unfortunately for people, such despicable behaviour is unacceptable to God because it not only hurts the spirit, it crushes it with intense pain and has a negative spiritual impact on the victim if left unchecked.
In fact, the victim who tolerates mockery and spite from others without reversing it by word of mouth declaration inadvertently allows an open door for the devil to afflict him or her spiritually.
This is why you see teenagers commit suicide as an escape route when the pressure and hurt of mockery becomes unbearable for them.
You find parents shouting down at their kids because of what they perceive as poor academic performance; some even go as far as telling lies to their kids that they were the best of their class during their school days.
If every parent was the best in class, who took other positions?
If academic qualification alone was the yardstick to measure success in life as many believe, how come this world has majority of millionaires and billionaires of genuine businesses who have little or no formal education employing the top performers of formal school?
You find some parents who have embezzled money from their place of employment teaching their kids to hate, look down upon and mock children from poor families.
Some parents teach their children to mock the domestic helps who are much older than they are, all because the domestic help is less privileged as of that time in life.
They join their kids they have taught to be rude to insult and castigate the domestic help, calling all manner of unprintable names.
It is God alone Who can determine the course of a person’s life and transform it to become great.
See what the Bible says about mockers of poor and distressed people in Proverbs 17:5 (AMPC), “Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker, and he who is glad at calamity shall not be held innocent or go unpunished.”
There is also another group who believe because they have formal academic qualification, that qualifies them to know and interpret God’s Word as they deem fit.
Amongst them are those who would argue and scoff against Scriptures that tell them the Truth they are unwilling to believe, accept and practise. For them, God is love and so God would never punish them even for their glaring wrongdoing that is contrary to His Word.
They mock men of God, calling them all manner of names, not realizing that men of God are God’s firstborn sons – Numbers 3:11-13.
Again, see what God’s Word says in 2 Chronicles 36:15-16 (AMPC), “And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent to them persistently by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.
16 But they kept mocking the messengers of God and despising His Words and scoffing at His prophets till the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, till there was no remedy or healing.”
Unfortunately, amongst the groups of people I have enumerated above are those who profess Christianity, who go to Church to worship the Creator of all human beings, to listen to His Word and how to live right before Him.
Yet, they go ahead and make mockery of their fellow creatures and sometimes want to play god in their lives through despicable acts.
For those who do such things, I want to ask you, are you sure you want to go to Heaven? If yes, which heaven? For I know there is only one heaven where ONLY those who practise righteousness according to God’s standard in His infallible Word in the Holy Bible qualify to enter.
My advice to you?
Repent today and now, for tomorrow or later may be too late for you.
Remember that Jesus Christ is coming NOW to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
