COMPROMISING YOUR FAITH FOR FEAR OF MEN

Luke 14:26 (GNBDK)
“Those who come to Me (Jesus Christ) cannot be My disciples unless they love Me more than they love father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and themselves as well.”
 
Galatians 3:28 (GNBDK)
“So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free people, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus.”
 
Dear people of God, there are many ways Christians compromise their faith for fear of men. Some of these ways are obvious but some are not so obvious and those who do these things are not aware of the dangers they subject themselves to in the eyes of God.
 
How can you call yourself a Christian and claim that though you do not believe in the discriminatory practice of the Osu caste system of South Eastern Nigeria BUT you cannot have anything to do with them or sanction a marital relationship with someone labelled an Osu?
 
For those who do not know what the Osu caste system is all about, I will tell you.
 
Though there are different stories as to how the Osu caste system originated, according to information on Wikipedia, “the origin of the Osu caste system can be traced back to the era when the Igbo city-states were managed by the laws of the earth, known as odinani.
 
The deity, known as ala, provided rules that must be obeyed by the people so that the nation would be blessed to prosper in the territory given to them by Chukwu, the Supreme God.
 
Offenders who were found guilty of great abominations were cast away so as to avoid the anger of the earth deity and to prevent the spread of abomination among the citizens of the state.
 
These outcasts were identified as Osu. They were either sold to slavery to other men or were delivered to be enslaved to certain deities who were believed to ask for human sacrifice during festivals in order to cleanse the land from abomination, thus leading to the purchase of a slave by the people.
 
Another view on the history of the osu caste system centres on ostracization. This occurs when a person or group of persons who refuse the orders of a king or the decision of a community are banished from the community, thus resulting in the victim and his descendants being called osus.
 
Now, looking at this definition above, go back again to one of today’s lead Holy Bible texts in Galatians 3:28 where we are told that everyone whether free or slave, Jew or Greek are all one in Union with Christ Jesus.
 
Once you are in union with Christ Jesus, you are all one regardless of your previous status before you met Christ to become your Saviour and Lord.
 
Why then should someone profess Christianity and still hold on to his or her ungodly views of a society because he is afraid of what might become of his children in future?
 
Have you not seen in Luke 14:26 that Jesus says you cannot love anyone no matter who it is more than Him, Jesus Christ?
 
Why then are you more concerned about what human beings would say to you and your family as against what God has told you in His Word in the Holy Bible?
 
When you stand before God on Judgement Day or at death immediately you exit this world, what reason do you think you can give to Him for disobeying His command not to discriminate against anyone if you claim to love God?
 
If you say you are concerned about what your society would say as against what God says, can you really claim to know God and to love Him?
 
Why can’t you take the Gospel of Christ Jesus you claim to profess to the souls whom you claim believe in Osu but you do not, even when your comments and actions prove otherwise?
 
Is the Gospel not meant to turn people away from darkness to light?
 
To be sure, let us see what God told Paul the Apostle in Acts 26:17-18 (AMPC), “Choosing you out [selecting you for Myself] and delivering you from among this [Jewish] people and the Gentiles to whom I am sending you– [Ezek. 2:1, 3.]
 
18 To open their eyes that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of satan to God, so that they may thus receive forgiveness and release from their sins and a place and portion among those who are consecrated and purified by faith in Me.
 
If Paul the apostle had refused to carry out this mandate from God, would today’s world have the number of Christians it has outside of Israel? Who do you think are the gentiles referred to above?
 
It is today’s Christians of course.
 
And do you now suppose that God’s mandate to take the Gospel to other gentiles or unbelievers has changed?
 
Rather than come together as a group to take the Gospel message to the evil practitioners of the Osu caste system who are in darkness, you choose to keep quiet and claim you are a Christian; you do not believe in Osu BUT you cannot have anything to do with those labelled as Osu and you cannot sanction a marriage to them.
 
Dear friend, I pity all those who make such statements because there is no difference between them and those who openly practise the discrimination called Osu.
 
Remember that there is a God in heaven who will judge all the actions of humans and as long as your action violates His Word in the Bible, you will never see His face when you leave this world.
 
The earlier you understand this and begin to live in righteous obedience to God’s commands, the better it is for you.
 
A Word is enough for the wise.
 
Remember that Jesus Christ is coming NOW to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
