Matthew 1:20-23 (AMPC)
“But as he was thinking this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary [as] your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of (from, out of) the Holy Spirit.
21 She will bear a Son, and you shall call His Name Jesus [the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, which means Saviour], for He will save His people from their sins [that is, prevent them from failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God].
22 All this took place that it might be fulfilled which the Lord had spoken through the prophet,
23 Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His Name Emmanuel–which, when translated, means, God with us. [Isa. 7:14.]
Dear people of God, the prophecy in Isaiah 7:14 was given some 700 years before it was fulfilled in Matthew 1:20-23 when the Lord Jesus Christ was born into this world.
As seen above, the Name Jesus means Saviour, which is the Greek form of the Hebrew Name Joshua, which is why the Jews refer to Jesus as Yeshua.
Now Christ means Anointed so the Name Jesus Christ means “Saviour Anointed”.
As seen in the Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures, His Name is also called Emmanuel, which means “God with us”.
These are His Names because they are consistent with His mission on earth as a human being, which was to die for the sins of mankind to destroy what the devil did at the beginning when he deceived Adam and Eve to disobey God’s command.
Jesus came to this earth to restore what mankind lost to the devil as a result of sin through disobedience. The consequence was that sin, spiritual death (spiritual separation from God) and physical death entered this world and has reigned to all mankind since then until Jesus came to change the narrative by shedding His precious blood on the Cross of Calvary to reconcile mankind back to God.
Jesus rose again from the dead after 3 days as He said He would, thus confirming His Word as the Saviour, Lord and Messiah.
If Jesus Christ did not die for our sins, mankind would have been doomed forever but thank God for His love for us and whosoever believes this Truth revealed in God’s Word and accepts Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord will receive eternal life when he or she departs this world.
The condition for this eternal life is for a Christian, a genuine believer in Jesus Christ to live a life of righteous obedience to all of God’s commandments.
Now, there are some well-meaning Muslims who say they believe in Jesus as a prophet of God because there is a name mentioned as Isa in the Koran.
The name Isa means ice or iron, which has no correlation whatsoever with the Bible Name of Jesus.
Clearly, the Isa mentioned in the Koran as a prophet is not the Jesus Christ mentioned in the Holy Bible as the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world, the Saviour and Messiah.
There are some Muslims who say they do not believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that Jesus Christ was never crucified.
I agree with them to the extent that the Jesus they are referring to Isa in the Koran, meaning Ice or Iron and not Jesus Christ, Saviour Anointed according to the Truth of God’s Word in the Holy Bible.
I therefore urge the well-meaning Muslims who want to know the Truth to pray a simple prayer to God to confirm to them what I have written here.
This charge to Muslims and indeed all other non-Christians to seek sincerely to know the Truth through prayer to God is pertinent because it would make the difference for them when they depart this world.
At death, it would be too late to find out and there is no amount of repentance in the grave that would save them from eternal damnation for rejecting the Truth revealed by God.
As you read this message, dear friend, please note that this may be the last Gospel message you come across.
Do not harden your heart and say you will remain and die a Muslim or a non-Christian.
I personally know a lady who was once a Muslim but now a Christian by God’s special Grace but facing stiff opposition as usual from her mother.
The interesting thing is that this lady told me her mother confessed to her that she has had the same dream 3 times in which she saw a Man (I know it is Jesus Christ my Lord) who appeared to her and asked her to go and preach the Gospel.
Not only has this lady’s mother adamantly refused to obey, she is still opposed to her daughter’s new faith of Christianity.
I always tell the lady to pray for her mother and siblings so that the same Light God shone on her would extend to them in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Dear friend, a wise person would always seek sincerely to know the Truth because as Jesus Christ has said in John 8:32 AMPC), “And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free.”
Remember that Jesus Christ is coming NOW to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
