A WORD TO CHRISTIANS WHO JUSTIFY REFUSAL TO PAY TITHES

 Malachi 3:10-12 (AMP
10 Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it.

11 Then I will rebuke the devourer (insects, plague) for your sake and he will not destroy the fruits of the ground, nor will your vine in the field drop its grapes [before harvest],” says the Lord of hosts.

12“All nations shall call you happy and blessed, for you shall be a land of delight,” says the Lord of hosts.”

Dear people of God, once again I am inclined to discuss the issue of tithing and this time around the message is for those Christians who justify refusal to pay tithes.

Such Christians are quick to make reference to wealthy non-Christians who do not pay tithes as a justification that paying tithes is not required to attain wealth for a Christian.

By implication, such Christians are saying that God is lying in Malachi 3:10-12 in today’s lead Holy Bible text above. We know that God can never lie so these folks are the ones passing misleading information to other ignorant Christians.

Some claim tithes is Old Testament teaching and is for the Jews and not for Christians. See what God’s Word says about Christians in Galatians 3:29 (AMPC), And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham's Seed], then you are Abraham's offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.”

Now I ask Christians, is Abraham not the father of the Jews as God decreed? Does this Scripture not show that Christians are also seed of Abraham by virtue of belonging to Christ Jesus?

There is also an ignorant point Christians who fail to pay tithes make to justify their claim.

They make reference to non-Christians and countries like China who “appear” to be prospering now as another justification that paying tithes is not compulsory.

It is pertinent at this point to reference the Words of Jesus Christ concerning the devil in Mark 3:24-25 (AMPC), And if a kingdom is divided and rebelling against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25 And if a house is divided (split into factions and rebelling) against itself, that house will not be able to last.”

Let me make it clear that every human who does not have Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord belongs to the devil’s kingdom whether the person knows it or not, believes it or not.

So why then should the devil bother a non-Christian who is wealthy when the person is already in his kingdom?

The devil knows the Christian is the only person qualified to enter heaven at the end of stay on this earth so why should the devil fight to destroy a non-Christian’s wealth?

Is the Bible Book of Job chapters 1 and 2 not evidence that the devil only attacks persons who have a genuine relationship with God and who fear God and eschew evil?

Before you veer off, dear friend, please remember that Job was not a Christian but offered burnt offerings to God, which means he was a Jew, an offspring of Abraham and I have already showed you from the Bible that Christians are also offsprings of Abraham.

China, a country with a population of 1.364 billion people in 2014 had the under listed religion demographics from a 2014 CFPS 2014 Survey published in early 2017:

ü 15.87% Buddhists
ü 5.94% unspecified other religions
ü 0.85% Taoists
ü 0.81% members of the popular sects,
ü 2.53% Christians (2.19% Protestants and 0.34% Catholics)
ü 0.45% to be Muslims
ü By inference, 73.55% do not belong to any religion

From the above statistics, why should the devil be bothered about a country where 97.47% or 1.33billion of her population belong to his kingdom?

Is it then difficult to understand why China is doing well economically? Does the devil need to disturb the prosperity of a nation that is within his kingdom?

No he does not.

But again, is it not ironic that proponents of Christians not paying tithes are so quick to forget the Words of Jesus Christ in Mark 8:36-37 (AMPC), For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life [in the eternal kingdom of God]?

37 For what can a man give as an exchange (a compensation, a ransom, in return) for his [blessed] life [in the eternal kingdom of God]?

News reports in July 2020 had it that Chinese government officials started going round and threatening to stop state welfare aid to needy Christians unless they renounce Christianity and begin to worship the then president Xi Jinping and Communist leader Chairman Mao telling them that those are their gods.

In fact, there were reports of Chinese government officials entering the homes of Christians and taking out Crosses and all Christian related materials and replacing them with photos of the then president and Chairman Mao.

Tell me, if the devil is not behind this move, why was it happening now? Is that a country that one should make reference to whilst discussing issues of tithes?

Now, let us see the fate of such people and countries in Psalm 9:17-20 (KJV), The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.

19 Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.

20 Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.”

So is it a sensible thing for a Christian who deliberately disobeys God to justify his stand by comparing other genuine Christians with ungodly people and nations when their fate is grim?

Are Christians not supposed to pray to God to make China a nation of Christians when over 97% of them are destined for an eternal damnation unless they repent and come to the Lord Jesus?

Dear friend, I want to make a demand of proponents of Christians not paying tithes as follows:

If you can show me a genuine Christian who obeys God in every area of his or her life – is not a liar, not an adulterer or fornicator, not a drunkard, not a reviler of others, not resentful or unforgiving, not a thief, not a troublemaker, not divorced - and the person is not paying tithes but prospering in paid employment or business, then I will believe your story that a Christian is not required to pay tithes.

One thing I can assure you is that you can never find such a person because what God has said in Malachi 3:10-12 is forever settled in heaven and applies to every generation of His sincere and genuine followers.

If you still believe Christians should not pay tithes, please respond to this message with just one Holy Bible Scripture that says so as proof of your point.

If you are unable to provide these proofs, then I advise you today to repent and ask God for forgiveness and start paying tithes and all other monies you owe God before it is too late for you.

Remember that Jesus Christ is coming NOW to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.

Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today for tomorrow may be too late for you.

May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Precious Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
