“When you come into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of these nations.
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, or who uses divination, or is a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer,
11 Or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and it is because of these abominable practices that the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
13 You shall be blameless [and absolutely true] to the Lord your God.
14 For these nations whom you shall dispossess listen to soothsayers and diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so.”
Dear people of God, today’s lead Holy Bible text shows the reason why Africa is steeped in struggles on many fronts.
God clearly warned the Israelites, His children, not to visit or engage in any activities involving spiritism, wizards, witches, voodoo priests, necromancers, mediums, etc.
This warning from God has not changed because of the present and future negative implication for practitioners and patrons of such activities.
Unfortunately, in Africa, even till today, you find people who profess Christianity still visiting practitioners of these abominable activities in the name of finding solution to their problems.
As a result, our ancestors have covenanted with the devil via many ungodly practices in the name of culture and tradition, some of which have continued till today and this has affected their descendants.
This is why Africa is sometimes referred to as the dark continent, as a result of evil spiritual strongholds in many places manifesting in the present realities we see daily.
This is why the leaders and people in Africa are engaged in wickedness of unimaginable proportions without caring a hoot about their behaviour. A lot of foul spirits are controlling them without their knowing and making them do ungodly things.
It is because many human beings, especially professing Christians, do not understand how God operates and how the devil operates.
God Almighty is Holy, Righteous and Just and NEVER breaks covenants. On the other hand, the devil as a liar, the father of lies and all that is false (John 8:44b) does not respect covenants.
However, whenever a person previously covenanted either deliberately or mistakenly with the devil becomes a Christian, the devil insists on enforcing such covenants and God would always respect the covenant UNTIL the person takes steps to break it himself or herself and we will see how to do this shortly.
We thank God for the Light of Jesus Christ that has come to a number of areas in Africa but a lot of work still needs to be done to shine the Light of Jesus on the continent.
Let me give a few instances where people deliberately or unknowingly enter into covenants with the devil without realizing it and the far reaching negative influences that affects them much later in life:
ü parents out of love for their children and in the name of protection enter covenants with the devil by taking them or their names to voodoo priests and priestesses where they are made to pass through rituals.
ü Some married couples in search of children do the same when they visit so called “spiritual homes” and engage in fetish practices.
ü Some people go and obtain chieftaincy titles of whatever sort.
ü Some bachelors and spinsters start calling their neighbours’ children, “my wife” or “my husband” without ever getting married to them. Years later, they get married to completely different persons than the ones they called “my wife” or “my husband”, and in some cases as has happened, this leads to childlessness in their marriage.
ü Some visit voodoo priests and priestesses to “help” them advance in their chosen career and engage in ritualistic practices.
ü Some outrightly join occultic groups in order to pursue political ambitions or to have rapid promotion in business or place of employment.
ü Some visit voodoo priests for assistance to solve “spiritual problems” like bad dreams, spirit husband, spirit wife, health challenges, financial difficulties, etc
ü Some visit “prophets” who put Jesus Christ in front but are serving the devil behind in secret and get further entangled with the devil in the process.
ü Some unmarried people during their courtship enter blood covenants with each other by cutting a part of their body, making an oath and rubbing their blood together.
ü Some visit fake prophets and fake pastors who cast demonic spells on them whilst “speaking in demonic tongues” and laying on of hands to solve problems.
ü Some in the name of wanting to ensure the lady they want to marry can get pregnant sleep with her and enter into a demonic covenant with the devil in the process.
ü Some are innocently raped as children by evil people. Demonic covenants are entered into with the devil as a result even when the innocent child did not initiate or cause the rape.
As you can see, some of these demonic practices are obvious but some are not so obvious, and it does not matter whether it is obvious or not, the covenants have already been entered into with the devil.
