26 And I found that [of all sinful follies none has been so ruinous in seducing one away from God as idolatrous women] more bitter than death is the woman whose heart is snares and nets and whose hands are bands. Whoever pleases God shall escape from her, but the sinner shall be taken by her.
27 Behold, this I have found, says the Preacher, while weighing one thing after another to find out the right estimate [and the reason]–
28 Which I am still seeking but have not found–one upright man among a thousand have I found, but an upright woman among all those [one thousand in my harem] have I not found. [I Kings 11:3.]
29 Behold, this is the only [reason for it that] I have found: God made man upright, but they [men and women] have sought out many devices [for evil].”
Dear people of God, all women have their very beautiful sides and it is such a thing of great joy when one is around such women.
They display this in genuine care, concern and love as spouses to their husbands, mothers to their children, siblings to their blood siblings and so on and so forth.
However, it is a usually a dreadful thing to see these same women whenever they are irritated or angry. You would wonder if these are the same women who are capable of loving the aforementioned folks.
This brings us to the question of today’s topic, which is, did God really create women to be hostile and intolerant of others?
In Nigeria, whenever a woman is seen in her angry mood blurting out her mind, most men are hardly surprised because for them, that is the nature of women.
In other parts of the world, the situation may not be any different.
In today’s lead Holy Bible text above, Solomon, Israel’s third king who married 700 wives and had 300 concubines was more than qualified to talk about women.
He said he had found one in a thousand men who was upright, but he could not find any such woman.
How revealing!
One issue that I sometimes wonder about is why majority of women are easily irritated and angered at people they do not know personally or have a personal relationship with.
You see this behaviour in homes where mothers-in-law and sisters-in-law are hostile to their sons’ and brothers’ wives. There is usually tension in the build-up to the wedding of their son and his wife to be, and even after the wedding.
The wife at home usually prefers her own mother, siblings and relatives to visit them as against the man’s own family members.
When you ask her why she is not receptive to her in-laws (male and especially female), she would tell you that she does not know what she would say that would either irritate or annoy her in-laws and so she does not want any quarrels.
At the slightest provocation, they are ready to start a major quarrel that would last for years on end.
In fact, there are reports of women who go as far as concocting lies about their in-laws and vice-versa for female in-laws who fabricate untruths just to get their husbands to severe ties with his family or to get the man to send his wife away.
This issue is there in the workplace where the female boss is feared by subordinates including fellow women because they do not want to be at the receiving end of her anger.
Something I have observed is that a number of female bosses are unmarried even when they have risen to the peak of their career. If you probe further, you would discover that she was once married but the marriage did not last due to irreconcilable differences with her husband.
A careful study of her character at home would reveal that she is just not ready to submit to her husband’s authority as the head of the home as God’s Word has commanded in Ephesians 5:22-24.
This same woman is ready to submit to another man outside, her employer, who pays her the huge salary she is unwilling to forfeit but she is ready to end her marriage rather than submit to her spouse at home.
Even in the Church where the Spirit of God dwells, you still find women hostile to each other despite the fact that the Word of God says Christians should pursue peace with everyone and holiness without which no person would see God – Hebrews 12:14.
If they are not gossiping about another woman or other women, they are mocking those who either do not dress as well, or are unmarried or are not well off financially or are yet to conceive after years of marriage.
Again on the issue of submission, you would find a number of Christian women who are more than willing to submit to their pastors and spiritual leaders in the church but are unwilling to submit to their husbands at home.
Now I ask again, did God create women to be hostile to others at the slightest provocation?
Solomon answers this question in the final verse of today’s lead Bible text, where he says, “29 Behold, this is the only [reason for it that] I have found: God made man upright, but they [men and women] have sought out many devices [for evil].”
This Scripture makes it clear that God made all humans upright but on their own humans have sought out many devices for evil.
This means God did not create women to be hostile to others they are not familiar with or for whatever reason.
If it were God who created women that way then that would make God unrighteous and unfit to judge bad behaviour because God has clearly commanded humans in His Word to be perfect just as He, God Almighty is perfect – Matthew 5:48.
But we know that God is Righteous, Just and Holy.
Therefore, the excuse that women are hostile by nature does not hold with God’s righteous demands of His children.
This is just the same way that African societies have come to accept the menfolk as adulterous or polygamous in nature, which, unfortunately again goes contrary to God’s righteous standards of one man, one wife only.
The men and any society who believe and practise such ungodliness will face the consequences when they appear before God on Judgement Day.
My advice to the womenfolk?
You must repent genuinely of ungodly irritability and intolerance of others at the slightest provocation. God did not create you that way as you have known today.
As a Christian woman, you must do exactly as is commanded in James 1:21 (AMPC), So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word (of God,) which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.
Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
