“33 I have told you these things, so that in Me (Jesus Christ) you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]”
Dear people of God, there are very many people who do not understand that whatever takes place in this physical world we see has first taken place in the spiritual realm, the unseen realm or unseen world.
At times, God allows people to see into the spiritual realm but it is just for us to understand that that realm exists and there is a connection between the spiritual unseen realm and the physical seen realm we dwell in.
Having said that, it is pertinent to note that anywhere you see conflict in any part of this world whether in a home between a husband and wife, siblings, relatives, in an office, on the road, between families, between communities, between nations, etc, the devil is the one behind it.
For you to understand what I have stated, just go and read the story of Job in the Bible book of Job chapter 1 and you would see how the devil inflicted serious damage on Job’s family and property in the physical realm after his (devil’s) conversation with God in the spiritual realm.
This should also let you know that God is NOT the author of conflicts even though He may allow it to happen and it is usually for a reason.
Now, it is because people do not understand the connection between the spiritual and physical realms, they also do not know how to deal with such conflicts whenever and wherever they arise.
See what the Lord Jesus Christ says in the first part of today’s main Holy Bible text, that in Him we will find peace but in the world, we will find tribulation, trials, distress and frustration. Is this not happening in today’s world?
Of course it is.
Note the second part of the Lord’s comment where He says we should be of good cheer, He has overcome the world and deprived it of power to harm and conquer us.
This should be cheering news for all Christians, followers of Jesus Christ.
However, if we look at today’s world, we still find genuine Christians falling victims of the trials, distress and frustrations of this world. So why is this so?
It is because such Christians have information from God’s Word they are not acting on and the devil is taking advantage of their ignorance to inflict harm on them.
See what Jesus Christ says in Luke 10:19 (AMPC), “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.”
Jesus says He has given us authority IN HIS NAME over all the power that the enemy possesses and nothing the enemy does shall in any way harm us.
Jesus does not make empty statements because He is the Word of God (John 1:1; 1 John 5:7; Revelation 19:13) and the Word of God is forever settled in heaven – Psalm 119:89.
Since we as Christians have authority over all the devil’s power, we must exercise and enforce that authority in the Name of Jesus Christ anytime the devil shows up to cause conflicts.
It is as simple as you giving a command in the Name of Jesus Christ to whatever foul spirit(s) is causing the conflict, asking it to leave and never to return.
Then you must thank God for the authority and answer to your declaration in the Name of Jesus Christ.
The first thing you would notice is a change in the countenance of the person(s) causing the conflict and an immediate stop to the conflict because you have exercised your authority in the Name of Jesus Christ over the demons causing the problem and they would CERTAINLY flee.
When you go in prayer asking God to do for you what His Word says He has given you authority in His Name to do, you are not acting on God’s Word and so the problem would remain.
It is very important for you to note this point because many Christians make this mistake when they pray and wonder why God is NOT responding to them.
God says He has given you authority over the devil’s power (Luke 10:19). God says YOU, not Him, should do something ON THIS EARTH whenever the devil shows up to cause confusion and the devil would flee and the confusion would end – James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9.
Dear friend, many Christians do not understand the enormity of the love God has bestowed upon us and this is because they do NOT study His Word to know what God has said concerning His children.
Someone would argue now and say because God created every human being, then He is our Father.
Wrong!
Yes, God created everything living and inanimate, but it is only Christians that are children of God.
I am not mincing words when I say this because I am quoting what God’s Word says in John 1:12 (AMPC), “But to as many as did receive and welcome Him (Jesus Christ), He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His Name–[Isa. 56:5.]”
As you can see, it is only the person who has received, welcomed and accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord of His life, and who lives in strict and uncompromising obedience to Jesus’ commands that He gives the authority to become a child of God.
Therefore, the privilege of having the authority in the Name of Jesus Christ over all the powers of the enemy, the devil, demons and their human agents belongs only to Christians and no other group of humans on this earth.
This is why Jesus Christ has commanded Christians who understand this Truth and indeed ALL CHRISTIANS everywhere to go on Evangelism to tell the whole world about Him, Jesus, about repentance, forgiveness of sins, Salvation, eternal life found only in Him, Jesus Christ and the privileges of a Christian.
Today, you have known how to end conflicts wherever you are in this world. You have known that the devil is behind all conflicts.
You have known that a Christian is the only person with the privilege given by God to exercise full authority in the Name of Jesus Christ over the devil, demons and their agents.
You have known that you just have to command the bad spirits causing the confusion and conflicts to depart in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and they MUST leave because they cannot withstand the authority exercised in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Having known all these, dear friend, is there any reason why you should continue to hesitate and refuse to surrender your life to Jesus Chris to become your Saviour and Lord?
Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
