THE DANGER OF CHRISTIANITY

Matthew 7:21-23 (AMPC)
21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven.

22 Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your Name and driven out demons in Your Name and done many mighty works in Your Name?

23 And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands]. [Ps. 6:8.]”

Dear people of God, there are many Christians who underestimate God’s righteous standard He demands from those who are His children.

Ability to pray, prophecy accurately, share the Gospel of Christ with others in Evangelism, speak in tongues (foreign languages), fast from food, perform miracles in the Name of Jesus, cast out demons, contribute financially to the cause of the Gospel etc does not confer righteousness on the person or acceptance by God.

Unfortunately, today’s Christians use this as a yardstick to assess those who are qualified as God’s friends.

No doubt, these activities are necessary as far as Christianity and the work of the Gospel is concerned.

However, if after engaging in these activities, you still allow your flesh to dictate and control your recreated spirit, then there is grave danger.

See what Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27 (AMPC), “But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].”

We should note carefully that there is a significant difference between doing the work of the Lord and having a personal relationship with the Lord of the work.

Without a personal relationship with the Lord of the work, it is just a waste of time being a Christian as Jesus Christ has told us in today’s lead Holy Bible text above.

When no human being is watching you, can you still be a Christian? If you visit a town where nobody knows you as a Christian, do you still obey God’s commands in His Word in the Holy Bible?

Are there not youth from Christian homes who are students in the University that have an ungodly wardrobe in school but attire themselves modestly at home?

Are there not people who profess Christianity but watch pornography on their phones?

Are there not pastors who, whilst claiming God ‘spoke’ to them, went ahead to divorce their wife and engage in adulterous relationships in the name of “re-marriage?”

Are there not parents professing Christianity but who aid their children to cheat in school examinations by bribing the teachers?

Are there not Christians who drink alcohol today?

Are there not churches today who invite comedians to stand on the altar and crack ungodly jokes even concerning Christianity and godliness to the applause of the congregation?

Are there not churches today that play worldly music and even perform sensual and provocative dances in their services?

Are there not church members and pastors who steal the church’s funds for their personal use?

Are there not church congregations today where the dressing of members is no different from what prostitutes wear?

If God’s Word is clear that He does not condone such behaviour and activities, there is no amount of work you would do for God that would make Him change His standard of righteousness.

This is what is written in Romans 2:11 (AMPC), For God shows no partiality [undue favour or unfairness; with Him one man is not different from another]. [Deut. 10:17; II Chron. 19:7.]”

Let it be clear to all Christians that the way they choose to serve God does not make them acceptable to Him.

No matter what you say, think, believe and do, as long as it does not conform to what God’s Word says, you must repent and retrace your steps to God’s righteous standards before it is too late.

Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.

Gabriel Ama.
