“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness of it, the world, and those who dwell in it.”
Dear friend, there are people who grumble when called upon to give to God’s work for the advancement of His Kingdom on earth. Giving is usually in 4 categories:
(1) Tithes - 10% of your monthly income as a salary earner or 10% of your profit as a business person.
(2) Firstfruits - the difference between your previous income and new income as a salary earner or the first profit of any new business as a business owner. Profit is the surplus that remains after you have deducted all expenses from sales.
(3) Offerings - money given in church whenever you attend fellowship.
(4) Contributions to Kingdom projects - personal contribution to any church project.
The reason people grumble when called to give is because they assume they own the money, worked hard for it and therefore should not be compelled to give.
However, such people forget that:
(a) God Almighty and Father of my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ owns the world and everything in it including humans and all they claim as theirs as stated in today’s lead Holy Bible text above.
(b) God is the owner of all life.
(c) God created human beings and all their body parts including their brains.
(d) God provides Divine protection over everyone who belongs to Him as His child through Christ Jesus.
(e) God grants excellent health to His children to be able to engage in their daily activities without any sickness or disease.
Now, unlike human who charge for their creation or inventions or products or services and earn an income in doing so, God does not charge us anything for what He has freely created because nobody can pay Him for it and He did it for His love for humans.
Even the air or oxygen we breathe freely is created by God but hospitals charge for the same oxygen they administer on patients who have difficulty in breathing.
The only condition God has given to humans is for them to be loyal to Him and it is of their own freewill as He, God, would never force anyone to follow or serve Him.
So, for anyone as a Christian who has elected to follow God and be loyal to Him, such individual should take time to consider all I have stated here and should come to an understanding that that which he or she claims as his or her own actually belongs to God and s/he should be thoroughly appreciative of God.
Such individual who has come to this understanding should therefore not struggle with the thought of giving a fraction back to God of all that God has freely given him or her.
Such individual would never argue with the idea of making any and all of the aforementioned contributions in Church in appreciation of his or her Maker because that is a demonstration of trust in addition to appreciation of His blessings.
David, Israel’s second king understood this fact when in his prayer to God, he declared as recorded in 1 Chronicles 29:16 (AMP), “O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy Name, it is from Your hand, and is all Your own.”
Dear friend, if your trust is in God, your thoughts, words, actions and reactions would prove it in how you respond to the things of God in the church as proof of your loyalty to Him including winning souls for the Kingdom in Evangelism.
You can be certain that God‘s blessings would never cease to flow in your life for your obedience to all His commands and freewill offerings you give in church because God loves a cheerful giver as His Word confirms in 2 Corinthians 9:7-8.
Jesus’ coming for His children in the Rapture is imminent. Are you His child or are you born again? Are you ready for Him?
Come to Jesus Christ the Word of God today and now, for tomorrow or later may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
