2 Timothy 4:5 (AMPC)
“As for you, be calm and cool and steady, accept and suffer unflinchingly every hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fully perform all the duties of your ministry.”
Dear people of God, Christianity is beyond being born into a Christian family or just church attendance every Sunday.
There are many Christians who think it is okay to just be a Christian without any service to God and without having a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us see what the Bible says about a Christian in Ephesians 4:11-13 (AMPC), “And His (Jesus Christ’s) gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.
12 His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ's body (the church),
13 [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ's own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.
As a person, every single day, you first started out as a helpless baby relying on your parents and family for your well-being. Thereafter, you became a toddler, child, teenager and then adult growing up until now as you read this.
At the age of reason (knowing right and wrong, good and evil), you were told that you are a Christian and then taken to Church to learn more about God from people whom God has appointed into varied roles as stated earlier above.
During this period, you were most likely enrolled in formal school to pass various stages and likely obtained a certificate and academic qualifications.
Unfortunately, while most parents focus on these worldly achievements and groom their kids into them, very few focus their kids on the most important aspect of this life, which is contained in Ephesians 4:12-13 above.
If you are growing physically and socially as a result of deliberate paths you and your parents enlisted you into, I want to tell you today that there is a much more important path into which you should also be enlisted, which is the spiritual part of your life.
This is more important than anything you think is of interest to you in this world. Whether you know it or not, believe it or not, a Christian’s focus should be more on the spiritual than the physical because at the end of your stay on this earth, every decision you have taken here on earth would determine where you would spend the afterlife.
God created you and everybody entering this world for a specific purpose and if you are unable to discover that purpose with the aid of God’s Holy Spirit, then you are of all people the most miserable and most unfortunate.
How do you then begin the process?
I have listed a number of activities you MUST be involved in as far as God is concerned otherwise you are simply wasting your time as Christian in this world and you would pay dearly for it.
These are the activities every Christian must be involved in:
üDaily prayer with your family morning, afternoon (you personally wherever you are) and evening again with the family
üDaily Bible study
üEvangelism – telling others about sin, Heaven, Hell, Eternity, Righteousness, Holiness, Repentance and Salvation found ONLY in Jesus Christ
üTithes, offerings and donations to Church projects
üFellowship during weekly activities
üBe a genuine ambassador of Jesus Christ to everyone and everywhere you are, in word and deed in uncompromising obedience to Jesus’ commands in the Holy Bible.
Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Precious Name, Amen.
Gabriel Ama.
