25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and burning with spiritual zeal, he spoke and taught diligently and accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he was acquainted only with the baptism of John.
26 He began to speak freely (fearlessly and boldly) in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him with them and expounded to him the way of God more definitely and accurately.
Dear people of God, every genuine Christian knows the Word of God in the Holy Bible is ABSOLUTE and without any error.
Just take a look at the description of the Jewish convert to Christianity named Apollos in today’s lead Holy Bible text.
In spite of his experience with the Word of God as we are told, there was still information he needed to have concerning the ways of God because he was only acquainted with the baptism of John.
Through God’s Divine intervention, a Christian couple named Aquila and Priscilla (Acts 18:2) took Apollos with them and explained to him in more details the way of God more definitely and accurately.
Despite his deep knowledge of God’s Word, there is no record in the Holy Bible of Apollos ever objecting or taking offence to the more definite and accurate explanation of the Gospel he received from the Christian couple.
Rather, see what is stated about Apollos in verse 28 of Acts 18 (AMPC), “For with great power he refuted the Jews in public [discussions], showing and proving by the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah).”
As you can see, God gave Apollos the more detailed and accurate information to enable him explain better to the Jews Who the Lord Jesus Christ was.
This was necessary because Christianity was at its infancy at the time and Jews by God’s grace were converting to Christianity and so needed justification as to why they should leave their known way of God’s instruction to them to follow a new Way.
Dear friend, Apollos’ actions provides the right way to grow as a Christian.
No matter how versed you are in Scriptures, it is God Who has made it possible and when you are willing to submit to God’s leading through the Holy Spirit to learn more about Him, God would respond by sending QUALIFIED teachers to teach you through His Word.
It is only God Who knows it all for as the Scriptures tell us in 1 Corinthians 13:9-10 (AMPC), “For our knowledge is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect), and our prophecy (our teaching) is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect).
10 But when the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away (become antiquated, void, and superseded).”
In these days of many false preachers, false teachers and false prophets, how does one determine who is giving genuine information?
The right way to do this is for you to also build yourself spiritually through God’s Word by daily study and meditation (thought, consideration) to enable you make reference whenever you receive external information.
Whatever word a preacher of the Gospel speaks must tally with what God’s Word says. The preacher MUST be able to show you from the Holy Bible evidence of 2 or 3 Scriptures to support what he is saying.
You know why?
The Word of God says by the evidence of 2 or 3 witnesses every Word is established – Deuteronomy 19:5; 2 Corinthians 13:1b.
What this means is that the preacher should be able to show you from at least 2 or 3 different Holy Spirit inspired Bible writers (Scripture verses) the proof of what he is saying because the Spirit of God is One and there is no confusion about what God says on any matter when He speaks through different people at different times and places.
What is the lesson here?
As a Christian, do NOT remain as a baby who always needs to be fed with God’s Word. Always be willing to learn more and improve yourself by personal dedicated study of the Bible and through the teaching of experienced teachers of the Gospel that is consistent with God’s Word.
As you grow spiritually, humble yourself to know that it is God Who is doing it and ALWAYS give Him glory and acknowledge God before all humans.
It is we who need it and the more you seek, the more you would find because God is a rewarder of anyone who EARNESTLY and DILIGENTLY seeks Him out- Hebrews 11:6b.
Most importantly, do NOT keep the God-given knowledge of God’s Word to yourself because God DEMANDS you to share it with others through Evangelism just like Apollos, Aquila and Priscilla did as a warning and advice for lost souls and misinformed Christians to come to a true and accurate knowledge of God, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit shown in His righteous commandments.
Jesus Christ is coming shortly to take ONLY those who are qualified according to His righteous standards in the Holy Bible.
Are you living a genuine life as His disciple? Are you ready for Him? Come to Jesus today, for tomorrow may be too late for you.
May the good Lord bless you as you heed His Word today, act on it and share with others in Jesus’ Most Holy Name, Amen.
