ALL IN THIS WORLD IS VANITY

Dear friends, I just returned today Saturday August 25, 2018 from a week-long event of a burial in honour of a close friend and colleague of mine. This friend came from a family he was close to as I discovered during the burial. He was married with 3 beautiful kids. He supported the Liverpool Football Club of England. He had a good job by Nigerian standards. He worked very hard to deliver excellence on every task he was assigned. He always had great ideas and great contributions whenever we had our weekly meetings. He had great hopes and aspirations concerning himself and his family just like every focused human being in this world. However, all that ended exactly in the early hours of Saturday August 11, 2018 when he passed away from this world. I received the news of his death with deep shock because this year 2018 alone more than all other years I have known him, I kept receiving from him different news about the deaths of others we either knew or he personall...

PURSUING JESUS CHRIST OR PURSUING MONEY?

One of the biggest challenge most humans face today is raising money to pay their bills. As a result of this challenge, even some Christians have compromised their spiritual beliefs. Rather than trust in God and the Truth of God’s Word for their material well-being, they feign righteousness in Church and then engage in ungodly acts outside Church just to earn a living. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself tells us in Matthew 6:31-34, “ Therefore do not worry  and be anxious, saying, what are we going to have to eat? or, what are we going to have to drink? or, what are we going to have to wear? 32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for  and crave  and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. 33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. 34 So do not wor...

THE STANDARD IS THE WORD OF GOD

Judges 17:6 “In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes. ” Dear people of God, two days ago I had an interesting conversation with a young man I just met. He had told me that he believed in doing the right thing and that was because he hated injustice. When I asked him what the right thing was, he said it was doing what was right. As we discussed further, he made me understand that he usually had problems with people because he believed in doing the right thing. I then reminded him of the people who break traffic laws daily in Nigeria and especially in Lagos State, that is, those who drive against traffic. I told him that these people believed they were also doing the right thing and so driving against traffic cannot be wrong for them as far as their minds were concerned. Dear friend, just as today’s main Holy Bible text tells us, there was a time when Israel had no king and so everybody did what was right in h...

A CHRISTIAN SHOULD NOT DIE FROM SICKNESS

Galatians 3:13 (AMPC) “Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);” Dear people of God, sometime last year 2017, in one of my posts I gave a testimony of how God miraculously healed a colleague’s wife who had cancer and had been bedridden for a month. As a summary, what happened was that I was told of the woman’s health situation, and then I compiled a number of prayers using Holy Bible verses on Divine healing, and sent it to the woman through her spouse. The prayers were administered on this lady, God healed her, and she that was previously bedridden was discharged from the hospital and returned to her home. The kids who had been withdrawn from school as a result of their mother’s ill health returned to school. Shortly after the testimony, I was told by the man’s supervisor wh...

RESOLVING MARITAL CONFLICTS

In my part of the world in Africa, many women remain in their marriage even when they experience hardships and unpleasant experiences arising from the marriage. For most of them, they remain because the society rarely allows separation but encourages the woman to bear with the husband’s shortcomings. Again for the women who rely on their husbands for sustenance, the thought of suffering if they were to separate from the union keeps them in the marriage and so they endure. On the other hand, in Europe and North America, the women rarely tolerate difficulties in marriage. The society ensures the divorced woman obtains generous alimony payments from the providing husband even when the man is unwilling to do so. Whether it is in Africa, Europe or North America, conflicts abound in marriages for various reasons. For some, money is the major reason. For some, it is an unfaithful spouse and for some, it is issues arising from extended families, raising kids, and even upbrin...

GOD’S EXPECTATION OF CHRISTIANS

In my last post, we looked at God’s expectations of humans, which can be summarized in God’s Word in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, “ All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God's providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun]  and the whole [duty] for every man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil. This is God’s expectation of all humans because God will judge our every action on a Day He has appointed in the future and the Lord Jesus Christ will sit on the Throne to judge everyone. Now, for Christians, God also has another expectation, which the Lord Jesus Christ talks about in Matthew 5:14-16, “ You are the light of the world. A city...
