REPEATING PATTERNS OF UNGODLINESS

Ecclesiastes 1:9 (AMPC) “ The thing that has been–it is what will be again, and that which has been done is that which will be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun.”   Dear people of God, there is a pattern I have observed even as I grow older daily, which indeed is a sad one.   You see young maidens who get into high school, complete high school, and then begin to follow the young men in the area who deceive them with false stories of love (lust in reality) and this continues until you no longer see the maiden for some time.   The next time she appears, she is with a baby and the young men who once chased her are now nowhere to be found.   Why do these maidens make this same mistake repeatedly? It is either the result of a faulty family upbringing or a refusal to learn from the mistakes of others.   These maidens believe these young jobless men are truly interested in them whereas the objective for the young men is to satisfy their immoral craving...

FRUITS OF A FAULTY FAMILY UPBRINGING

Proverbs 22:6 (AMP) “ Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents],   Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”   Dear people of God, the Holy Bible is God’s opinion and the final authority on any matter concerning life.   Anyone who chooses to argue against this Truth is only wasting his or her time and simply going against a moving train that is bound to crush him or her.   The Bible says to train up a CHILD to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents and even when he is old, he will NOT depart from it.   Many parents today want to correct their ADOLESCENT (about 10-19 years old) children when they see them doing wrong and there is nothing wrong with this action.   However, it usually breeds animosity and tension in the home because the parents from their own personal experience of life know the dangers ahead for the child while the child wants to experience life...

THE DESTRUCTIVE NATURE OF FEAR (2)

Psalm 55:22-23 (AMPC) “ Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail). [I Pet. 5:7.]   23 But You, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in, lean on, and confidently rely on You.”   Dear people of God, we have seen from the first part of the post on this topic that contrary to what some folks believe, the spirit of fear is NOT of God but a foul spirit of the devil – 2 Timothy 1:7.   Indeed, fear is so terrible that it paralyses a person who dwells in it and leads him or her to take wrong decisions that are highly offensive to God.   A typical example is where people falsify documents, sell their bodies, steal from their employers, destroy others to protect themselves, all in a bid to earn a living from paid employment.   Fe...

THE DESTRUCTIVE NATURE OF FEAR

Matthew 14:28-31 (AMPC) “ And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.   29 He said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus.   30 But when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightened, and as he began to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me [from death]!   31 Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”     Dear people of God, no doubt there are many things that can cause fear in a person’s life – sickness, poverty, job loss, threat to life, medical doctor’s report, examination result, loss of a loved one, marital challenges, and anything else that threatens a person’s mental and physical well-being.   I want you to notice something in today’s lead Holy Bible text above. When the Lord Jesus called out to him, Peter was able to walk on the water without any problem. ...

IT IS WRITTEN

Matthew 4:4 (AMPC) “ But He (Jesus) replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every Word that comes forth from the mouth of God. [Deut. 8:3.]”   Dear people of God, when lawyers present a case before a judge, they make reference to the laws of the country as part of their submissions.   When lawyers comment on issues concerning their nation whether on radio or television, they equally cite portions of the country’s laws to buttress their points.   Whether in the court or out of court, lawyers are conscious of the laws of their country and it shapes their thinking and behaviour.   For Christians, the law that shapes their thinking and behaviour is the Word of God in the Holy Bible.   God Almighty and Father of my Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ is the One Who has given these laws.   Just as a human judge decides cases on the submissions before him guided by the country’s laws, God Almighty lis...

PRAISING GOD WHILE IN PAIN OR TRAGEDY

Acts 16:23-25 (AMPC) “ And when they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely.   24 He, having received [so strict a] charge, put them into the inner prison (the dungeon) and fastened their feet in the stocks.   25 But about midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the [other] prisoners were listening to them,”   Dear people of God, in today’s Scripture text, we see the Apostles Paul and Silas singing hymns of praise to God in prison after they were falsely accused, beaten and thrown into prison while on their mission work.   The Lord God responded to their act of faith by a great miracle by which Paul and Silas were released while the jailer and his household became saved as Christians by the Spirit of God.   How many Christians today can praise God under such humiliating condition Paul and Silas found themselves while on their missionary work of preac...

PROFESSING JESUS CHRIST ON EARTH WHILE HEADING FOR AN ETERNITY IN HELL (3)

Matthew 15:14 (AMPC) “ Let them alone and disregard them; they are blind guides and teachers. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a ditch.”   Dear people of God, today’s message is directed at church members who support their pastors and priests even when what the parson is preaching about or practising is glaringly wrong and at variance with God’s Word.   In today’s lead Holy Bible text, the Lord Jesus was responding to the wrong held view of the Scribes and Pharisees about ceremonial washing of hands before eating.   The Lord Jesus Christ went on to state that what defiles a person is not the food that enters the mouth into the body but rather foul words that come from a person’s mouth originating from foul thoughts in his heart.   The Pharisees were obviously offended at Jesus’ correction and this led the Lord Jesus to make the statement in today’s Scripture reference above.   Just as in the time of the Lord as a human on this ...
