JESUS CHRIST THE KING IS COMING (4)

1 Timothy 6:13-15 –  13 In the presence of God, Who preserves alive all living things, and of Christ Jesus, Who in His testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I [solemnly] charge you 14 To keep all His precepts unsullied and flawless, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), 15 Which [appearing] will be shown forth in His own proper time by the blessed, only Sovereign (Ruler), the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Dear people of God, once again, we have today another Bible text that reminds us to obey the commandments of Christ Jesus our King of Kings and Lord of Lords because He is coming back to take His own people. We are in that season, in fact the best season in the world, when we are engaged in events to mark the birth of Christ Jesus Who came in fulfilment of God’s Sovereign promise to send a Saviour into the world to deliver mankind from sin and reconcile mankind to God. It is therefore a...

JESUS CHRIST THE KING IS COMING (3)

2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 – 7 And to [recompense] you who are so distressed and afflicted [by granting you] relief and rest along with us [your fellow sufferers] when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in a flame of fire, 8 To deal out retribution (chastisement and vengeance) upon those who do not know or perceive or become acquainted with God, and [upon those] who ignore and refuse to obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 Such people will pay the penalty and suffer the punishment of everlasting ruin (destruction and perdition) and eternal exclusion and banishment from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, Dear people of God, I’m usually pained and saddened when I encounter people who argue against the truth of God’s Word and the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. I had such encounter some days ago when I told a colleague in answer to his question that our forefathers in Africa did not know God. My friend then came ...

JESUS CHRIST THE KING IS COMING (2)

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality, 10 Nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God. 11 And such some of you were [once]. But you were washed clean (purified by a complete atonement for sin and made free from the guilt of sin), and you were consecrated (set apart, hallowed), and you were justified [pronounced righteous, by trusting] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God. Dear people of God, there was a time I used to celebrate Christmas in alcohol and immorality. I recall this particular night in December 1995 I sat down with friends to take drinks and I took al...

JESUS CHRIST THE KING IS COMING

Revelation 3:20  20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me.” Dear people of God, a story is told of a painting of our Lord Jesus Christ seen standing at a door. Someone was asked to comment on the painting and the person observed that the handle on the door was missing and so the painting was incomplete. The artist who painted the photo responded that the painting was complete and that the door had only one handle on the inside. We can relate this story to today’s lead Bible text of our Lord and King Jesus Christ standing at the door and knocking whilst expecting the person on the inside to open the door to welcome Him. Once again we have entered that season of Advent when a lot of activities and preparations take place culminating in the celebration of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ. During this period most people are f...

THE WAY OUT FOR THE STRANDED PERSON

In the last few years, I have developed a habit of not bothering about taking my faulty electronics/electrical appliances to technicians to fix because I believe I won't get it fixed properly or they may just end up causing more damage and I will spend money with no value received. I therefore prefer to buy a new one as a replacement. My spouse on the other hand believes we should try to fix these items with a technician when it develops a fault. We both have a point. However, the truth is, if the cost of fixing a faulty appliance is almost the same as buying a new one, it is a wise decision to buy a new one. By the special grace of God, I have a developed a love for His Word in the Holy Bible as well as an understanding of the Word of our Lord Jesus Christ stated in Mark 11:22-23 "Have faith in God [constantly]. 23 Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes th...

PARTIALITY IS A SIN

James 2:1-4 1 My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. 2 For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, 3 and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” or, “Sit here at my footstool,” 4 have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible text warns us against partiality or discrimination in our relationships with others everywhere we find ourselves. A great many of us unfortunately discriminate against the less privileged in the society with the way we treat them. We forget that it is the same God who created them that created us too and as far as God is concerned all human beings are equal, whether you are a Country’s President or a destitut...

CHRISTIAN, WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?

At times I hear some people who profess Christianity make some statements that shows very little or no understanding of their faith as Christians. A typical example of such statement is to say that no one has been to heaven and back. This wrong statement is premised on the faulty assumption that death is final and one who dies and whose soul has departed cannot return back to this world. Our very faith as Christians is built on the foundation that our Lord Jesus Christ died and rose again on the third day. If Jesus Christ did not die and rise again as He said He would and then did, then Christianity would not exist and we who practise it today would only be fooling ourselves. Now what happened when Jesus Christ died? He went to a part of HELL called Hades to recover the keys of death from satan the deceiver and Jesus also went to recover souls who had died before He came as a human being, who were qualified to enter heaven but could not because man was spiritually sep...
