A REPROBATE MIND

The dictionary defines a reprobate as a depraved, unprincipled or wicked person. Another definition is a person rejected by God and beyond hope of salvation. In describing the shameful acts of homosexuals and lesbians in engaging in unnatural use of their private parts, the Holy Bible states in Romans 1:28, "And so, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing, God gave them over to a reprobate (base and condemned) mind to do things not proper or decent but loathsome," It is really sad therefore to see people living lives that offend God as homosexuals, lesbians, bi-sexuals and transgender and claiming God created them that way. All over the internet, we hear stories of child pornography, we hear of immoral photos and video recordings of unmarried people sleeping with themselves, sleeping with animals, and sleeping with the same gender. We hear of people recording rape acts of women, children, and despicab...

WHY DO YOU DYE YOUR HAIR?

Every human being passes through an ageing process from childhood into adulthood and in the process observe that the colour of their hair changes from dark to gray. Some are uncomfortable with gray hair and resort to applying all manner of dyes to make the hair remain dark. Their reason for such act especially amongst the womenfolk is probably because they do not want friends, colleagues and other people to know they are getting old. For others, they want to feel young at heart. This is also why some resort to plastic surgeries to take away wrinkles on their skins to make them look young again. Even with all these additions and modifications, the body ageing clock is still ticking as we sleep and wake up every single day of our lives. What most of us fail to realize is that it is God who created us and also created the ageing process for everyone. The Word of God tells us in Leviticus 19:32 (AMP), “ You shall rise up before the hoary (gray) head and honor the face of ...

SERVING GOD AND MONEY

Dear friend, our Lord Jesus Christ says in Matthew 6:24, "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in)." There are many people these days who claim they are too busy to serve God but they are always chasing after their personal interests. They make all manner of excuses on the premise that even the money required in the Church to run the affairs there, they are the ones to work for it. One thing we must realize is that it is God who gives the power to create wealth - Deuteronomy 8:18. Therefore, it is not by your power that you prosper if you are doing well in life. Faith in God demands that we acknowledge Him always as the One Who does all things for us and gratitude to God demands we give God thanks for every single item of blessing in our l...

FRUITLESS FIGHT AGAINST THE TRUTH

All over the world today, we see individuals, groups and governments fighting tooth and nail to supress knowledge of the truth of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. They threaten Christians, arrest them, lock them up and even kill them all in a bid to stop the spread of Christianity. Some governments especially in Islamic countries and countries like North Korea where they worship their leader outlaw celebration of Christmas and other Christian holidays. We see terrorist groups like ISIS, Al Qaeda, Al shabab, Boko Haram, etc all engaged in a killing spree of Christians who fail to convert to Islam and who are insisting on holding on to their Christian faith even in the face of certain death. The actions of these ignorant individuals, groups and governments is premised on their false conviction that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God and cannot be God either. Unfortunately, we also see such behaviours in countries of Europe and North America where laws have been ...

UNGODLY FASHION IN TODAY’S WORLD

Genesis 3:7,21 –  7 "Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves apron like girdles. 21 For Adam also and for his wife the Lord God made long coats (tunics) of skins and clothed them. Dear people of God, today’s lead Bible texts show events after Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s commands not to eat the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden of Eden." Adam and Eve on realizing they were naked sewed leaves together and made apron like girdles to cover their nakedness. God Almighty even after pronouncing judgment on them for disobedience made LONG coats (tunics) of skins to clothe them. This was when it was just Adam and Eve, just two people in the entire world, for every other human being is descended from them – Acts 17:26. In today’s world, we are daily assaulted with visual images of all manner of ungodly and immoral attires, dressing and fashion especially a...

HINDRANCES TO ANSWERED PRAYERS (4)

Psalm 66:18 "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." Dear people of God, in the last 3 posts on this topic, we have looked at uncommon hindrances to answered prayers that Christians are often ignorant of and which have consequences. You would do well to read them again as a refresher and so learn to deal with them. Today we will look at the concluding part of some of these uncommon hindrances: Lack of compassion – Colossians 3:12 – a well known pastor was once asked why so many miracles took place in his ministry and he responded by saying it was because of his compassion and love for his congregation such that when he prayed for them, God’s Holy Spirit would move to do signs and wonders. A parson who understands and practises compassion would always move God’s heart to perform great miracles. Serving God grudgingly – 2 Corinthians 9:7 – Serving God involves giving our resources and time in His service to humanity. Unfortunately, some peop...

HINDRANCES TO ANSWERED PRAYERS (3)

Psalm 19:12-13 Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults. 13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression. Dear people of God, we have in the last two posts on this topic looked at some uncommon hindrances to answered prayers. Today’s Bible text calls them hidden and unconscious faults, or presumptuous sins and indeed these can hinder one’s prayers from Divine response. We will now look at another set of such hindrances: Unknown covenants with the devil – there are some families whose ancestors knowingly or unknowingly entered into covenants with the devil, for instance, when people offer animal sacrifices to ward off so called evil spirits or mermaid spirits in riverine areas. Such covenants with the devil are usually to be renewed on a yearly basis and so the innocent and ignorant offsprin...
