When evil people want to cast spells on someone, they use words to accomplish their purpose. We see one visible effect of their evil spells on mad or mentally challenged people. When a Christian prays, he uses words also and as long as the individual is in right standing with God and believes his prayer has been answered, he will have whatsoever he has prayed for. To be in right standing with God means to be living a life full of grace, righteousness and holiness according to God’s Word in the Holy Bible and not according to human standards or opinion. It means there is power in words and power in the tongue. The Word of God tells us in Proverbs 18:21, “ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].”   If you are in right standing with God, the only way you can counter a spell or evil influence is through prayer. Many folks assess themselves using others as a yard stick, whether it is spiritual standing with God, financial status, academic prowess, relationships, health status, marriage, you name it. As a result, they feel relaxed when they believe they have a better standing than the person with whom they are comparing themselves. Dear friend, the correct yardstick with which to assess yourself is the Word of God in the Holy Bible. When you study God’s Word regularly, conscientiously and meditatively, it gives you an exact understanding of where you are in life. God’s Word can never mislead you unlike the lifestyle of others. God’s Word is pure and sharper than a double edged sword – Hebrews 4:12. It tells you how you are faring in your relationships with others and most importantly how you stand with God. Dear friends, the Word of God tells us in James 1:13, “ Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one. ” Even though this statement is taken from the truth of God’s Word in the Holy Bible, you find so many people say maybe it is God’s will for their prayers not to be answered when it does appear the answer is taking long in coming. Some say, “who knows, maybe God is testing me to see my faith”. You even hear some talk about God allowing a period of dryness in one’s life! Does the Holy Bible say anything of such? I was once having a discussion with a friend of mine who was voicing out his anger at the manner in which people commit evil acts these days, especially the horrendous nature of such acts. I then told my friend that the people who do these things are acting under the influence of demonic spirits. I further explained to him that everything that happens in the natural first takes place in the spiritual realm.
